Thanks Conny - have you any experience with Einhill? Wondering if so how it compares

Ozito tools - are they Einhill?

Thanks all. Yes so wesfarmers who are the group that owned bunnings had their foray in the UK market back when they bought homebase; they came in guns blazing bad mouthing the competition then realised they had made a massive error of judgement. I remember going into homebase once at the time...

Ozito tools - are they Einhill?

Hi all - my family live in my home country of Australia where my dad works at Bunnings, basically their B&Q. They have their own brand of tools called 'Ozito' which seems to be Einhill. The products look identical, but they are around half the price as here, and have a poor reputation. I myself...

Durable & wipeable paint options for kitchen cabinets

Thanks so much for this, very useful to hear from someone in the know like that. Can I ask how durable the dulux option was? In regards to the 2k option, I really have no experience with any sort of spraying so it's a whole new world for me. I was hoping there was an option to use with standard...

Explanation of thermostat vs control temp

Sorry for late reply, hard to keep up with what this thread has become ! My costs are really just the new tado kit, providing it's back in stock soon, which costs around £180. Not a huge cost, but it's likely to be some bother trying to get it actually working as I think this thread proves...

Durable & wipeable paint options for kitchen cabinets

Hi all - am currently converting a campervan and planning my cabinets. I really want the finish durable, and was leaning towards formica laminated ply but it's not cheap and was curious if there was a durable paint finish out there. Rustoleum sell a kitchen cabinet paint which has good reviews...

Explanation of thermostat vs control temp

Well I don't know if anyone saw, but Heat Geek just premiered a new video on youtube with a head guy from Tado announcing they'd brought back opentherm support for their wireless model, although they announced it was available now and seems to be sold out. Still seems most promising option for...

Explanation of thermostat vs control temp

Wow thanks so much for the replies everyone - I don't feel so stupid now because it seems I'm not the only one who finds it complicated. I've got the baby brain going on at the moment, so I'm going to have to read these responses several times for it to sink in and might come back to individual...

Explanation of thermostat vs control temp

Hi all - I've been trying to get my head around better ways to run my heating in the rise of heating bills lately (like everyone) but this week I took my little newborn home so now am realising more than ever i want to sort it! I've been reading various articles about boiler modulation...

How to find if boiler is modulating

Oo interesting. What boiler do you have?

How to find if boiler is modulating

Thank you, that's super helpful. I live in an old stone building so you're probably right about the heat loss (I've found some good links to calculate heat loss but haven't quite got my head there yet). When it modulates is it doing so according to the temperature of where the thermostat is...

How to find if boiler is modulating

The video linked in my post explains it better than I can but it seems some controls offer settings that use modulation - for example when and what thresholds (all depending on bus compatibility).

How to find if boiler is modulating

Thanks - out of curiosity what are normal minimums. Would you say then it's not worth investing in a third party modulating thermostat?

How to find if boiler is modulating

From what I understood the whole point of modulation was taking a third reading - the outdoor temperature preferably - in order to know how hard to run the boiler. The room temperature & flow temp would just work fine for boolean on/off operation.

How to find if boiler is modulating

Thanks I'll have to check that but I think it might be the same which is good. How is your boiler reading the temperature - at the thermostat, at the boiler itself or does it have an external sensor outside somewhere?

How to find if boiler is modulating

Hi all - Like many at the moment I'm doing what I can to make my central heating more efficient and am looking to replace my controller (which is in need of replacing anyway). Every day's a school day and I've learned about boiler modulation and the compatible controls for this as shown in this...

    Is this a tanalith stain?

Hi all - bit of a puzzler was hoping someone could help with. Laid a composite deck and had some pine treated sleepers to make beds round it. Left one on the deck as didn’t complete when rainy spell hit and it was there for a couple of weeks till I got back to the job. Underneath its left a...

Protecting metal garden furniture in UK

Bit of a left field q for here but hoping for some input. I've got some new metal garden furniture and I'm wondering what people's tips are for rust prevention. It's not stainless steel, just painted black, and I'm considering spraying it all with some matt clear lacquer. Good idea or is there...

    Sanding & Planing Incised Timber

Hi all - I took delivery of a bunch of pine sleepers from Travis Perkins to use for my garden beds. The oak option was naturally very expensive at the moment and they also told me that their recent batches have been terrible, so I went with pine. However they're very rough and not as straight as...
