Hi Guys, Removed a chimney over the weekend and am now closing up the roof, Due to the way it was tiled previously i had to take of the ridge tiles and re-lay the tiles to make them fit correctly. Hip at the end of the roof, so not a big job. Ive got all tiles on again and im about to...

Remove open fire back boiler and keeping fireplace?

Hello, After some opinions on removing an open fire back boiler (grant) Is there a way that i can get this out without destroying the fireplace? I have all the pipe work disconnected either side of the chimney breast but its still in there pretty solid. Im not familiar with how...

    under floor heating

Not a plumber but done plenty of research after getting wildly different quotes on what i needed from different suppliers for the same job. 300m-700m of pipe! Could explain why many people claim it costs a fortune to run and doesnt heat the place. If the system doesnt have the capacity its...

    Lintel/Beam size and joist hangers?

Thanks to all for the responses and apologies if i caused a debate! Im thinking if the timber solution is adequate and i cant see why it wouldnt be given the short span, ill go that route as it will allow me to have the celing flush and floor above nicely level by using the same size timber...

    Lintel/Beam size and joist hangers?

Thanks for in the info, i would prefer the idea of a timber beam / Trimmer. Unfortunately, its a very old conversion, previous owner comissioned it with out PP or building control over 30 years ago. Joists are not up to current specs, 115x47mm or there abouts @ 300mm spacings, 3.5m clear...
