    Slugs in conservatory

Hi Nope, no plumbing. It’s been a nice dry day here, so perhaps they’ll leave us tonight.

    Slugs in conservatory

Thanks. Yes, concrete floor. Do you mean damp course? Where would I find that? It’s v frustrating. I watched TV in conservatory until about midnight, checking the skirting and door frame like a hawk. I leave the room for five mins, and they’ve arrived. I think I’ll have to stay up all night to...

    Slugs in conservatory

Hi I know recent downpours have exacerbated slug situation, but we’ve had the odd one coming in for a while. Images show the areas where they appear, but not necessarily where they enter. You’ll see I used copper tape around door frame and between skirting and floor. (Some quite big gaps...

    Conservatory door stuck

Hi One of the two conservatory doors (the one that opens second) is stuck. I’ve cleaned around it as much as I can, but no joy. Definitely sticking at the bottom. Is there a simple method to free up? Thanks

    Repositioning loft light

Thanks. Not going to need the separate neutral connection now, but for future ref: When you said above “need to join up neutrals, separate connection from switch etc”…Did you mean separate connector as still going from switch, but separate? (Conversely, separate from switch entirely?) You also...

    Repositioning loft light

I should have asked you to clarify “connect the neutrals together”… I’ve got another double pole switch lurking around somewhere, so will use that. It’s almost like neutral has been superseded by events in terms of connections in the new breed of switches.

    Repositioning loft light

Hi again Sorry for previous double post. (Looks like it hadn’t sent, then you have a duplicate!) Variation on a theme now. Previously had double pole one way, now have single pole two way. (Don’t need neon, as light will be in loft) I wanted a thin switch, and these all seem to be two way...

    Repositioning loft light

Thank you. Can’t recall why I bought a double pole switch all those years ago??

    Repositioning loft light

Cheers. I’m not as nimble as I used to be (eyesight also deteriorated) I’ve attached images to show connectors for the pull cord switch, the lights in loft and the cables going from the switch. The cable on left goes back to the “last ceiling rose” and the one on the right goes up to the first...

    Repositioning loft light

Hi About twenty years ago (before we had decent insulation, boards etc), I installed a pull cord switch and two lights in the loft. They’ve been great, considering the use they’ve had. However, due to having a new loft ladder fitted. the old pull cord switch needs to be positioned. I’ve had a...

    Gravitational painting problem

Many thanks both. It’s a wooden concertina type. The door itself looks ok, but the surround has become marked. I thought if I was doing that, I’d have to do the door at the same time. Ta

    Gravitational painting problem

Thanks. I was thinking gloss, as never used emulsion on wood.

    Gravitational painting problem

Hi Have to paint loft door and surround. Apart from plenty of carpet protection, is there a knack for this? Thanks

    Hot tap indicator missing?

Thanks. Seems a bit of a palaver for a screw for a sink no more than 6 years old?
