    Combi boiler cupboard

it's quite a big cupboard under the stairs. i will get a ventilation grill fitted at the bottom of the door as having one at the top and one at the bottom (which is the current arrangement on the old door) is a bit OTT I think.

    Combi boiler cupboard

Does a door to a combi boiler cupboard need to have vent slats? The current door have one at the top and one at the bottom but this was there when the old boiler was there, which was a conventional gas boiler with a hot water tank. The existing boiler is a combi boiler and I am looking to...

Little hot water from electric shower

yeah, when you turn the dial to hot, the flow rate reduces, which is normal. however, it has started to reduce the water flow too much so you don't get much hot water at all.

Little hot water from electric shower

the flow rate reduces drastically to trickling as soon as the dial is turned to hot. it could be the sensor on the shower is broken.

Little hot water from electric shower

I have a gainsborough electric shower that was working until this morning when the flow rate on the cold seems fine but when I turn the switch to hot on the shower, very little water comes out, although the little bit of water that does come out does get hot. Any ideas what the problem is? Is...

Hoover washing machine leaking at the front

I have an old hoover washing machine which has started to leak at the front, just under the bottom. There doesn't seem to be a leak at the back of the machine and the leak is isolated to the front. I have checked that there is no leak at the waste pipe as it is a freestanding one, where you...

    NICEIC domestic installer

NICEIC has Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor status registered electricians. It states that Approved Contractor has to pass more stringent tests. I need to get an EICR for my house, so can I use a domestic installer, who has not attained the approved contractor status with NICEIC? I...

Replacing bath taps and basin taps

Yeah. I don't think I am going to get anything cheaper than £150 from what you say.

Replacing bath taps and basin taps

Going rate is about £90 an hour. So to fit the basin taps, plumbers estimate an hour. I am guessing he is estimating 1.5 hr for bath taps, so an extra 30 minutes. Doesn't sound unreasonable if you say that it normally takes longer to replace bath taps over basin taps.

Replacing bath taps and basin taps

Thanks. I would expect to pay £80 to £90 to get basin taps replaced. I have been quoted £150 for bath taps, so I am trying to work out if this is a reasonable estimate by seeing how much more difficult bath taps are to replace over and above basin taps.

Replacing bath taps and basin taps

i know that it doesn't take any longer if you had to do this in a workshop setting and it is down to access in home settings. is it generally harder to get access to the bath taps than the basin taps? and are bath taps generally harder to take off than basin taps if they are old?

Replacing bath taps and basin taps

Is replacing bath taps a much harder job than replacing basin taps? I mean does it take a lot longer to do?

    Plumber telling me fibs?

Update - so i asked the plumber as you guys have advised and you guys are right, he said he had planned to only replace the front of the taps and leave the pillars in place. it would have been nice of him to tell me this upfront as i could have paid him £50 for an ugly job that i did not want...

Am I ok with this wall light?

cheers. i went to product information rather than customer service. will email them. i checked the SES bulbs I have and I was mistaken as they are 40W and not 60W, so I think I may actually be OK with these.

Am I ok with this wall light?

just found this article, which state NO to using a higher rated bulb than what the lamp states. Guess I am out on this one then :( https://info.kensplumbing.net/blog/can-i-use-a-higher-watt-bulb-than-recommended

Am I ok with this wall light?

Yes, whilst replying to ericmark, i did wonder if I am mixing up the lumiere with the wattage, hence my comment about me not understanding the LED Hut article. Unfotunately the JL lamps don't refer to traditional incandescent bulbs and only to the new ones. I don't think their halogen bulbs...

Am I ok with this wall light?

thank you. i know that lamps always have a label on the bulb holder to state the maximum wattage for the bulb, which is either 40W, 60W or 100W. I had put this down to the size of wiring that has been used inside the lamp itself but what you are saying is that the lamp has been built of a...

Am I ok with this wall light?

Thanks. My knowledge is not good enough to understand what you are explaining. My concern is with the power rating on the wiring. I don't want to burn the damn lamps out by shoving a 60W bulb into a lamp that is designed to only hold a 40W bulb, if we refer to old traditional bulbs. I found...

Am I ok with this wall light?

Sorry if this is a trivial question but I have looked at the info on the net and it doesn't really the answer the question, so would like to hear from the experts on here! I have a wall light that needs replacing. I currently use the traditional incandescent 60W bulbs. I have a few of these...
