What paint on moisture resistant plasterboard in bathroom

Did seem rather vague in B&Q, looked on the side of the tin "this is the one you need Sir" I'm looking at a Matt finish if possible. Just a few more details of the room:- Over bath shower, with Aquamura panels around the perimeter of the bath up to a cieling which is at a height of 2.7...

What paint on moisture resistant plasterboard in bathroom

Bathroom walls and cieling have been lined with knauf moisture resistant plasterboard. The plasterboard has been sealed with a plasterboard sealer. Just wondering now what would be the best paint to apply to the plasterboard? I went into B&Q yesterday and they suggested Dulux Bathroom+ paint.

Leak on abutment roof to pebbledash wall

I sprayed water over the wall with a hosepipe this morning and it only leaks when the water is concentrated on a small area just above where the knot can be seen on the timber to the right of the picture (a couple of inches to the right of the overlap in the original flashing). The strange thing...

Leak on abutment roof to pebbledash wall

I like this idea, just been up on the roof to see if it would work (must be mad as it is New Years Eve and freezing cold). Noticed what could be a problem. There are 3 lengths of flashing above where it is leaking and each one only has an overlap of a maximum of 20mm. Looking at the Lead...

Leak on abutment roof to pebbledash wall

You have me worried now!!! But that picture does not show the final construction of the roof. There were purlins fitted in the longest span and the roof that you can see does only come about 7 foot out from the wall (it"s an "L" shaped room). I did go on the roof with the roofer today and...

Leak on abutment roof to pebbledash wall

The span is just over 4 metres in the part that can be seen, pitch is about 20 degrees. Just wondering if you are on to something here?

Leak on abutment roof to pebbledash wall

Had a roofer up today and he reckons that the lead flashing has not been fitted correctly, only partially into the render. His suggestion is to remove the pebbledash/render to 6 inches above the tiles, then step the flashing into the original wall ( with soakers????). I think that he also...

Leak on abutment roof to pebbledash wall

I have had a major leak on my 6 month old roof today. working in the room below and started to hear dripping during a heavy rain shower. Water then started to leak in quite a bit and then eased off even though it was still raining. Rung the builder who constructed the roof to let him know and...

    Convert sunroom into habitable room

Never did get Building Control involved. The builder that I had to do the work checked the foundations and said that they were fine. The new pitched roof has been finished and I am now in the process of finishing the internals. Any reason why you contacted Building Control?

    Celotex on single skin(brick) walls

I have had some further advice from Kingspan who suggest building a stud wall internally with the insulation between the studs and a small cavity between the brick wall. Quinn Therm have also replied and they suggest theat I fix pre treated battens directly to the brick wall with the insulation...

    Celotex on single skin(brick) walls

Thanks for the reply. What would be the best fixings for the battens, I already have the Celotex sheets already (50mm thick). What worries me fixing the boards this way is that they will be punctured by the fixings from the battens, would this be a problem. Also the room is being...

    Celotex on single skin(brick) walls

Just need to know the best way to insulate single skin brick walls. The walls are 100mm single skin red brick walls and externally have recently been rendered. Now I need to insulate internally and finish. I contacted Celotex and they suggested fitting foil backed boards directly to the...

    Floor for new kitchen

I have recently renovated an old single storey extension at the back of my house and now intend using it as a kitchen. The floor presently is a concrete slab, no sign of damp but do not know if there is a DPM built in. There is also a manhole in there, which will be changed to a double seal...

    Convert sunroom into habitable room

I've had another builder up this week and he has suggested exactly the same as what 'Woody' originally suggested about insulating internally and just fitting a new roof. With the previous builders all for demolishing a perfectly sound structure, this builder seemed to speak some sense. He...

    Convert sunroom into habitable room

Just an update on this so far. I've had a few builders up this week and the general concensus is to knock it down and rebuild. One estimate has come through tonight - £21,500 plus the cost of drainage after I have spoken to building control. I am guessing the other estimates will be...

    Convert sunroom into habitable room

Forgot to mention my wife wants to knock it down and build a conservatory, don't think she realises how much that would cost. But I am thinking more about the heat that we would lose as our heating bill for this house is quite substantial :)

    Convert sunroom into habitable room

Well, thanks for the replies I had a feeling that this would come up :D I am just interested in opinions before I ring up a few builders, so any advice will be most welcome. Obviously the easiest option would be to pull it down and rebuild, but that is not going to be cheap...
