    Pics from the Network.....

Again hope you guys dont mind me putting these up, some of you may find a modicum of intrest in them, and some may have seen these things many times over. Changing the insulating oil in a 60 plus year old 33,000V Circuit Breaker rated @ 400A and a short time rating for 3 secs of 13000A...

    HDMI Splitters

I have four HDMI units to feed into my TV that only has three HDMI sockets, so I need a "decent" splitter so I can have all four items connected at once, can anyone recommend one? The only problem I have is that one of the units is a PS3 and we have had issues in the past with splitters and the...

    Live/Neutrals reversed

Cant speak for other DNO's but Scot Power take a reverse polarity service very seriously indeed, I think its a straight dismissal for meter fitters, and older staff have their LV Authorisation removed instantly......

    Solar Panel simple question

I really should know this so please excuse my naive questions, but basic domestic solar panel systems, during daylight hours what makes the load use the solar generated power, rather than the DNO network, im guessing the system raises the solar voltage slightly higher than the incoming...

Moving a meter and DNO supply on a back board.

Im afraid I dont have the safety bulletin to hand to share with you but only last month a cable jointer sadly lost his life from a flashover whilst working on a live service termination (cut-out). I dont know the exact details so I wont post any, but I can only echo the dangers of tampering...

    Meter tail max lengths?

If you do need to move your service position Id recommend sitting down with a stiff drink before you get your quote.....Personally I cant recommend getting it done as a "foreigner". although I am led to believe its a very common practice and about HALF the price of getting the DNO to do it.

    Strawboard Wall fixing

The bloke that I work with is a fully certified spark in his life outside of work, and he was describing a job he has looked at that has what he only described as strawboard interior walls. not being a spark myself I have never come across this type of wall, the closet I have seen to it (as he...

    celing fan switch question

fitted a celing fan/light combo in my lads bedroom, a straight swap for the celing rose etc etc, the unit uses a remote control to switch the light on and the various speeds of the fan. Safe Ladder use for Guttering

I had thought of that to be honest , but i did want to try and get up to eye level with the gutter, so I could see what i was doing, I was just wondering what you experienced chaps would do, say if you were repairing/renewing the gutters.....

    Safe Ladder use for Guttering

Whats the best way, and of course the safest way of using my extension ladder to access my gutters for cleaning. I have used a stand off bracket for the top of the ladder, but its not much good for the guttering above the windows. obviousley i could lean the ladder against the gutter itself but...

    Lawn problems

a couple of weeks ago i used a FEED&WEED product on my lawn and it worked a little too well and killed of a huge moss growth in the middle of the lawn. So I raked out the dead thatchy stuff, and forked a few holes around the patch and firstly used a repair product that had both seed and some...
