    Mixed opinions regarding combis/large houses

Hi. Planning on having a new boiler fitted, it'll be an oil fired W/B Heatslave 25/32, will this be sufficient for a 4 double bed house with 2 bathrooms (one with shower bath, one shower shower cubicle)? Searching around gives mixed opinions, some yes, some no. Also, my existing radiator...

    Underfloor heating retrofit

Will give it a miss altogether then. One other consideration is boiler. Planning on a Worcester Heatslave 25/32 combi. Likely to be any compatibility issues with the NuHeat system?

    Underfloor heating retrofit

Good point, thanks. What about flat foil sheeting? Just something that'll reflect a bit of heat back?

Erm, that was kind of a joke. Are you a bit slow by Susanne chance?

    Underfloor heating retrofit

Thanks Muggles, very helpful. Looking around I can pick up 6mm Prowarm Profoam boards from Wickes, £200 to cover the area. I probably have the space to double up and put 2 layers down too. Maybe a sheet of foil insulation inbetween the two as a bonus...

    Underfloor heating retrofit

Just reading up.on the NuHeat lopro Max. Seems ideal for us. How does it compare to traditional wet underfloor heating though? More expensive to run?

    Underfloor heating retrofit

House falling down? Bit of a scary thought, I've just re-plastered the bathroom ceiling too! I'll mention foundations to anyone that quotes me for the excavation work. Is NuHeat stuff a wet system that can run off an oil combi? Want to avoid electric because of running costs, EPC ratings...

    Underfloor heating retrofit

Hi. Thinking of getting underfloor heating fitted in a 1900 house. Has a concrete slab on earth floor (approx 50mm thick). Can anyone give me an idea on what to expect price wise? It's for approx 71m² split in 4 rooms. Excavation depth? Cost of.. excavation, dpm, new concrete slab, insulation...

    Standard plasterboard in high humidity

Thanks. Yes I think the condensation problems it's had are largely due to it not being heated for a long time. It was unoccupied for about a year.

Internal wall insulation - window reveals

Thanks, I thought 37.5 was the smallest that stuff went, will have another look. Edit: foubd some, thanks. Might get away with the 30mm boards... https://www.buildingmaterials.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/12399/category/286/

Internal wall insulation - window reveals

I'm not convinced, isn't a lot of heat lost through the reveals? Plus if I'm insulating the walls it could cause cold spots on areas such as this?

Internal wall insulation - window reveals

Hi Planning io insulating the internal walls of the house, however struggling to come up with an effective plan for the window reveals. I only have about 25-30mm of space (depth), before overlapping the window frame. Any thoughts on effective insulation at this depth? One option I'm...

    Standard plasterboard in high humidity

Hi I'm lining some walls (living room) in a house in North Wales where relative humidity is often well into the 80-90% range, especially during the colder months. I've got an indoor humidity monitor and even with a piv system running indoor humidity often reaches these levels. I'm hoping to get...

    Earth bonding required in bathroom

Checked, yes both the sockets with one cable are nearby a socket that has three, so a ring with a couple of spurs it would seem. Will be leaving the 32a mcbs in place, as previously advised. Thanks.

    Earth bonding required in bathroom

I only read the page on ring mains, didn't see this one that deals with spurs... https://www.flameport.com/electric/socket_outlet_circuits/ring_spurs_socket.cs4

    Earth bonding required in bathroom

Ok thanks. Just had a look, there's at least two sockets like this. Got an electrician coming in soon to do a few bits, I'll get him to have a look an confirm what it is and make it safe it need be.

    Earth bonding required in bathroom

It's not, I tested it after reading your post and it work, tripped the switch ok, thanks though. While I'm here, I recently started another topic about adding a third socket in a radial circuit. Cut a long story short.. turns out the MCB for that radial was 40a with 2.5mm² cable, so dangerous...

    Earth bonding required in bathroom

Hi, Doing a little work in the bathroom and I noticed there's no earth bonding. I understand in certain situations it's not required, but not sure if that's the case here or not? Acrylic bath, metal talt/shower, copper pipe (plastic push fit joints) etc. Main switch in consumer unit.. Cheers

    Adding another socket

Yep, will be getting the electrician to sort it, thanks. I'll get him to check the board over & make any necessary changes.

    Adding another socket

I said I was a competent diyer, not competent with electrics, hence the reason for me posting on here, to find out if it was a simple job of running some 2.5mm cable from one socket to the other, something a competent diyer can do. But after reading the answers I'll be asking the sparky to sort...
