    Connecting hob.

Hi. A proper sparky will be doing this but so I can carry on with other work until he arrives I need to know the following. Is it ok to make the hob connection underneath the unit providing it is not allowed to sit on the concrete floor. Access will be by removing the plinth. There is no...

    Is there such a trim?

Thanks for that. Have now moved onto Plan B so don't need a trim now. Not sure what Plan B is yet though. Finished the window wall so will start on Plan B tomorrow. Watch this space but don't hold your breath.

    Three way trim mitre.

Got it done in the end but what a ball ache. Wasted a few short bits of trim but had enough for the job. Hardest part was getting the length correct. Lots of trimming required. Shouldn't have started it when I was so tired but thats it done now. Used the video tictic put on you tube. Lucky I...

    snow tyres for bmw

As a BMW technician (**** job) I can assure you that steel wheels will fit and we have sold plenty to customers who don't want the expense of new alloys or the hassle and expense of changing tyres between wheels. Would need to be the correct wheels though and relatively few 1 Series do not have...

    Is there such a trim?

Have decided against a stainless steel splash back and going to tile it instead. Using 100 x 200 bevel edge tiles. Doing under the wall units in gloss black brick bond style and changing to gloss white normal style for the splash back. Will be arranging them so that when the white and black...

Taking a row of tiles out

I am no pro but have had success by using a dremel with a grout bit to remove all the grout and adhesive behind the grout. Then drill a few holes through the tile and break the tile out gently. Works for me.

    Metro tiles, colours

Buy or download graph paper then draw your kitchen carefully to scale and colour it in with crayons. That's what I have just done as I couldn't get it straight in my head what it would look like.

Price for kitchen tiling? 40 sp m

Bloody hell. Thats £1000 at lower rate and £1800 at the higher rate. Glad I've got a small kitchen and can do my own.

    Upstand behind hob.

Worktop and hob now fitted and I have 70mm from the heat source to the upstand if it was fitted. Maybe a bit too close.

    Bevel edge tiles and trims.

Thanks for that. Careful planning needed before starting then. Got a few wooden batons so will mark out the tiles on that and see where the cuts will be before I make a start. The tiles are listed as 7mm which I assume is not the bevel edge so would I use a 7mm trim or a trim to match the...

    Bevel edge tiles and trims.

Hi guys. Can't get this clear in my mind. Going to use 100mm x 200mm bevel edge tiles and set them in brick bond style. When I get to the outer edge of the worktop where the tiles will stop I will have alternate full tile and half tile. Will this look strange and if so any suggestions apart...

    Upstand behind hob.

Ok thanks. Is that 100mm from the hob frame as it were or 100mm from the heat ring bit if you know what I mean.

    Upstand behind hob.

Is it ok to fit 70mm high laminate upstands behind an induction hob? Bearing in mind induction hobs stay relatively cool and heat only the pan. Have looked about for info on this and although opinion seems to differ general opinion is that it will be ok. Thanks.

    Good quality Kitchen advice please

Try Wren kitchens. Just got one albeit stacked up in the dining room at present. Very good quality and cheaper than Howdens (my mate gave me his Howdens trade price) Everything arrived at exactly the time they said it would with nothing missing. As has already been said get your worktops...

Damp course and replaster.how do I prep before painting?

Thanks. Homebase is closer so will try there first. Got some stuff from Screwfix (or maybe it was Toolstation) but it is hard to sand down.

    Is this normal?

Thanks for the replies. Can see the sense in not having it wired up the way I was expecting. Would normally have tested the socket with a Fluke meter but that is at work (vehicle technician) unless I bring it home specially.

    Is this normal?

Was changing a socket in the kitchen tonight as the plug had become hard to insert for some reason. The consumer unit in the garage had two trip switches marked sockets so tried one and tested the kettle and toaster. Neither worked so thought it was safe to proceed. Was just about to slacken the...

Fitting new sink and base unit.

Hi guys. New kitchen is arriving later this week and was wondering: What is the best way to get the hot and cold pipes through the back of a new base unit? (sink and taps will be new too, mixer tap with flexible tails) Do I cut two neat holes in approximately the correct spot and then make...

    Wiper aerofoil on micra..

It'll be fine without it. Some are transferrable to the new blade in any case. Have seen plenty that have been fitted upside down and the customer has not complained about poor visibility. :?
