I didn't Lol The gas engineer did. I did what the gas engineer said and called the electrician. The electrician managed to get the boiler partially working.

Hot water only, No central heating

Hey guys Gas engineer diagnosed a problem with the electrics for a boiler that would only fire up for 10 seconds and then shut down showing a flame failure error code. Electrician came round and sorted the wiring out in the house. Now the hot water works OK but I get the same issue when...

    GU10 in series

Cheers for the replys fellas Does gen 1 refer to the efficiency of the LEDs? So I take it they are the least efficient? Thanks again

    GU10 in series

I agree I was mortified when I came home and saw 6 spotlights and all the wiring done. I'd love to plaster over them but then it won't be central. Cheers

    Custom MDF door frame

Hey guys I've done all the door frames in my house and am now down to to my last one. It's going to be a double door in a rectangle arch between 2 lounges. It's an odd size (so will need custom doors too) Height 237cm Width 181cm I understand I'll have to make a custom door lining for...

    Oven cable to Socket Cable

Many thanks for your advice. Will this do?: https://www.toolstation.com/axiom-mcb/p77567 I take it its just a case of screwing the old one out and fitting the new one in?

    kitchen extractor wiring

My adjacent units go up to the ceiling so unfortunately can't get nothing in there. Instead of the FCU, is there any chance I can wire the extractor fan directly into a plug? I would of course have the correct fuse in the plug. Some of the wire would be buried behind plaster. Cheers again

    kitchen extractor wiring

I proposed putting the FCU out of the way so I can turn it off completely before detaching the chimney. Otherwise I'd have to open the chimney first before turning the switch off. What do you think?

    Oven cable to Socket Cable

It's 4 or 6mm up to the junction box. From the junction box to the 2 sockets its 2.5mm twin and earth. Cheers

    kitchen extractor wiring

Hi Guys Whats the best way to wire a kitchen extractor? I drew a quick schematic, would this be ok? The connector block would be hidden behind the removable chimney so it is very accessible. Heat and steam would go through the ducting, so its protected in that sense. The connector block...

    Oven cable to Socket Cable

Thanks guys Could the unnecessary ring arrangement permit me to run spurs in the future from each individual socket if the need ever arose?

    Oven cable to Socket Cable

Yes. he put a junction box where the oven cable ended. and a new 2.5mm cable was taken to extend a further 3 sockets (not spurs). Will get some pics of the CU later tonight. Cheers fella

    Oven cable to Socket Cable

Thanks for the quick replys fellas. He said he was going to take the old MCB out (I've not checked yet) and told me to stick a new MCB in once I've had the chance to buy one. Will this do?: https://www.toolstation.com/axiom-mcb/p77567 Cheers again

    Oven cable to Socket Cable

Hi Guys I had someone doing work in my house, I asked him to use the oven circuit (no longer needed) to run some extra sockets. I'm just wondering if this would create problems with heat etc as the thicker oven cable can probably carry more amps which the thinner socket cable won't be able to...

    Mixer for single tap

Thanks for the reply buddy. In the interest of using up stuff thats collecting dust, and not wanting to spend 40 quid, would the above schematic work? If not, what would be the cheapest mixing valve? Doesn't need to be pretty, its going to be tucked away under the sink cabinet. Cheers again

    Mixer for single tap

Hey guys. I've got some valves and tee's knocking about. Would this work: https://drive.google.com/open?id=17SCCz-XUxblcX_ZPNHjM88ztWTqZsqhG Its for a tap to supply warm water only. Would I need one way valves etc? How likely would it be for hot water to go into the cold water pipe and vice...
