    Fusing an Extractor Fan

The room is split into two areas, one being an enclosed shower unit - hence the use of two fans. Even if one were to be less effective, it would still be a more effective method of removing steam from the shower enclosure than leaving the door open and allowing the main fan, which is sited...

    Fusing an Extractor Fan

Thanks for your helpful info and advice. I'm sure that I'm going to get a sparks in to complete the job anyway as I will be selling up some time soon and I wouldn't want any issues when any inspections are done etc. But that is all really interesting. In fact I am becoming so interested in...

    Fusing an Extractor Fan

Thanks for the heads up rebuke. Pretty pointless doing relatively small jobs yourself then. I've already striped the bathroom to a bare shell and rebuilt it so I have already done the hard graft including siting the fans and channeling the wall etc. I've also already cut the holes ready to...

    Fusing an Extractor Fan

Sorry, I should have said, the fans are to be on one switch and the lights are on another - there will be two pull cords in the bathroom. This is an already tried, tested and preferred method for our family. I understand the basics of bathroom zones and all lights and fans comply with...

    Fusing an Extractor Fan

I'm fitting new lights and fans to my bathroom and I've come across a few questions I'd really appreciate help in having answered. Can I also say I'm not an electrician but I am having the wiring looked at as required to check the safety and regs-compliance etc. but I am intent on doing the...

    drilling

For large holes you can use a Circle Tile Cutter, and for small holes you use Glass Drills which come in a large number of sizes. You can get them all from Screwfix or similar. Just finished fitting a bathroom with a combination of these and they did the job perfectly.

    Reciprocating Saw

I've always wondered what that tool was for. I had a search online and it gets fantastic reviews all-round. For now, I'm going to buy a hole saw and see if that does the job. It's a lot cheaper than the Bosch. But, I may well invest in one of the Bosch Multi tools very soon as I can think of...

    Reciprocating Saw

I asked myself the same question actually! No, I just can't see a pad saw doing the job. You'd have to be the hulk to cut a 115mm circular hole upside-down in a hardwood soffit with one of them! Ta for the info about the hole saw though. I didn't know it was possible to buy...

    Reciprocating Saw

Thanks Woody, but unfortunately, I don't think any of those would do the job. The hole to be cut is 115mm in diameter and the soffit wood is so hard that cutting into it manually with a pad saw is useless - I tried it today. Hole saw's don't seem to come big enough suitable for wood, only...

    Reciprocating Saw

Hi I've started a job that I don't think I can finish without something like a reciprocating saw. I'm cutting a circular hole in the soffit of a house to pass a vent grill through. I thought I had the right tools, but it turns out I don't and I haven't got the strength to drill 15 holes...

    What are these please...

Good advice Hitachimad, thanks. I think I know what I'm going for now. I'm in the middle of putting the complete design together at the moment but I'll post a piccie of it once it's finished. :D The desk is going to be strong enough to withstand everyday use and heavy vibrations from the...

    What are these please...

That's great help guys, thanks! Symptoms, that info is extremely helpful. I think Hitachimad's suggestion ticks all the boxes. Worst case scenario, I'll have to cut the pipe myself, but the local plumbers merchant is not far from my house so I reckon I can walk a lengthy of pipe home...

    What are these please...

Hi, not a bad idea although I think I may struggle to find legs that are the right size. The speakers seat is only 25cm across and I think the diameter of those table leg tops will be quit a lot more. I'll have a look around tho! Thanks. :)

    What are these please...

I was thinking they are probably a custom job. They were made for the purpose of attaching mid-sized speakers to a DJ desk. They have to be very strong to withstand the weight and the vibrations of the speakers. I think I'll pop to another plumber merchants today to see if they can help...

    What are these please...

I've tried Wickes, B&Q and Homebase but they don't do anything this industrial. I don't even know what these are for, but I'm pretty sure they are not for fixing shower curtain rails - I have looked into that too. I've also checked with the local plumbing merchants who just looked at me like...

    What are these please...

and where would I get them from? I have searched online and the local DIY stores but I haven't been able to find out what these pipes and circular bracket ends are called (the two standing upright closest to the camera), or what type of seller I could buy them from? I'm after a couple just...
