Hi All, We have recently moved into a new house that has an outside toilet and a larder next to the kitchen. We are thinking of taking out the corner of the garage to open up the kitchen into a large rectangle and then turning the toilet 180 degrees and turning the area into a small wetroom...

Hey All, After 9 years of installation our concealed toilet cistern decided to continually run water down the pan. I removed the cover and reset the drop down plunger but everything looked a bit limescaled and gunged up. Any recommendations of what is best to clean it up with? I sprayed a load...

    Teak furniture paint stripping

Hey all We have some teak furniture which has been painted (by our tenants grrrr) and I'd like to restore it back to its original wood appearance. It's flaking as it is so it maybe that the jet wash removes most of it but wondered if there was any of way of doing it. Also im guessing it'll need...

    Kitchen expansion in garage

Thanks. Well the idea was to put in an kitchen island so making the kitchen more rectangular would help that. Taking out the toilet and cupboard would just create a longer galley kitchen which we were trying to move away from. Was sort of hoping that doing the garage conversion would be a...

    Kitchen expansion in garage

Hey All, We`re considering extending the kitchen and was wondering if a cheaper option than going into the garden/patio would be to take part of the garage. Anyone hazard a guess of whats involved , i`m assuming as the garage wall is load baring to the floor above it would need some RSJ`s for...

    Thermostat shower sensitive temperature control

actually think i found the whole thermostat shower valve on ebay for £27. it has the same decals on it but slightly updated appearance and the attachment is on the bottom not the top. Maybe i`ll ask them if they sell the cartridge separate. or like you say just get a whole new mixer.

    Thermostat shower sensitive temperature control

No , nothing written on it. Think its probably just some cheap chinese import. I noticed there is a kind of grub screw underneath the thermostat side. So i`m guessing its just undo that and a philips screw on the end behind the cover to remove the cartridge.

    Thermostat shower sensitive temperature control

I`ve touched the inlet pipes when its been running and they are around the correct way. Main question is if it is the cartridge, can I just take it out and take it down the plumbers merchant or is it more complicated than that, ie finding the make and model of the shower thermostat first?

hi all We have a thermostat shower in our shower room the type that has the mixer exposed in a long chrome barrel , power on the left and temperature control on the right. It is very sensitive to movement of the temperature control, it goes hot to freezing with mm of movement. I'm assuming the...

    Tumble dryer vent in garage

Hi All We`d like to get a tumble dryer for our garage and am looking at vented ones. The issue I have is that there is only one wall that I can put a vent on and that is about 6cm away from our neighbours garage wall so its impossible to get to from the exterior to fix a cover/flap, is that...

Which extractor fan for bathroom with shower

ok thanks. There is room for that 125mm one thats all. It would just need some new ducting, but the cavity is quite large as I remember. Just going by tlc-direct fan calculator they recommended that one.

Which extractor fan for bathroom with shower

Is a large centrifugal fan like that necessary, its only a foot or so length of pipe. they seem to say those are more for longer lengths of piping upto 50m length. It also gives 110m³hr, where as I`ve seen others that are 180m/3 hr that would fit but arnt so large...
