How Do I Remove This Tap

Thanks I'll try that. I have done just that with WD-40, and left that soaking but it hasn't helped so far.

How Do I Remove This Tap

Thanks again. It hasn't been glued, it has been off before, a couple of years ago. The top (red part) unscrews easy enough, then the top should pull off, but won't. It only locates about a quarter of an inch, over a 'square' bolt top kind of thing. Seems to have welded itself to it with gunk or...

How Do I Remove This Tap

There isn't a screw under the cap. The cap screws off and has the thread underneath it, which is attached. Then the top just pulls off. The hot one is stuck though.

How Do I Remove This Tap

Thanks for your reply. The tap isn't like that, with the cold one you unscrew the top bit (the red part in the pic), then the top just pulls off. But this one is stuck solid.

How Do I Remove This Tap

I am trying to take the top off this tap so I can clean it out and change the washer. But it is stuck solid. On the cold one, you just unscrew the top bit in the middle that has the hot/cold symbol on it, then the top part which you normally turn for the water, just pulls off. But on the hot tap...

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

All sorted at last. Managed to get a plumber out, great guy, and only charged £10 to fit the valve I had bought. Kept the old olive as suggested. Thanks for the replies and help.

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

I guess that, if meters are to become compulsory, then they would be fitted no matter where the stop tap was sited. Yes, the water guy was very antoginising and frustrating. Couldn't believe his reply of 'get a freezing kit' when I explained that the water couldn't be cut off to fix the...

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

I was a little worried that, with them moving it outside I would lose some control over it, and that they might fit a meter at will, or I won't be able to freely use it at as I can now, or whatever. But I'm hoping this won't be the case. Had a right argument with the guy at first, he refused to...

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

Well we contacted them, and just like you said, we have managed to get them to replace it. They will remove it from the driveway where it is now, and put a new one in the pavement outside. For free. Thanks for the suggestion, at least I will be able to turn the water off to the house now...

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

Well, I bought a replacement valve today and thought I'd have a go at this. But I've failed unfortunately. I can't even get the old one off, can't believe how tight it is and the copper pipe is moving and bending so much it's worrying me. I did manage to turn the nut a little bit, but the rest...

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

As I mentioned before, there are two... both in the kitchen, which shut off various assorted taps, but not everything. I think that different plumbing jobs have been done at different times, and the easiest quickest route was often taken, and done as they saw fit. Meaning I have no common stop tap.

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

Great replies, thank you, I appreciate it. I think the valve is leaking around the blue lever somewhere. In fact, when I took the old dish washer out and turned that handle off, water was still trickling out of the now open end. I had to tweak the handle back a little bit to minimise it, but it...

    Isolation Valve For Dishwasher Connection

Hi, I have been trying to install a dishwasher, to replace a faulty one. So, it should be just one out, one in. However, on the end of the cold water copper pipe, there is an isolation valve (I think it's called), with one of those little blue levers on it, which you turn to stop the water. When...

    B & Q Toilet - Overflowing Into Basin

Great, thank you for the clarification.

    B & Q Toilet - Overflowing Into Basin

Right, I've had chance to look at this, and pleased to say, fixed it, up to now thankfully. It did actually come off without removing the cistern, just gave it a little turn as seco services said. And, at the bottom was the large white washer (flapper?) again, as seco services said, thank you...

    B & Q Toilet - Overflowing Into Basin

Thank you. Would I still be able to get to this, whilst it's in position?

    B & Q Toilet - Overflowing Into Basin

Thank you, I will try that later. Although, the B & Q one does look a little different to the one you have pictured, and it seemed to be all one piece all the way down, but I could well be mistaken.

    B & Q Toilet - Overflowing Into Basin

I don't think that it's the cable though I can't rule it out. Am I able to take the contraption apart at all, whilst it's still in position in the cistern?
