Had a flag on front of property for 18 months. Noticed this week the bracket was coming away from the wall, obviously i assume due to strong winds in this area(Cumbria). The hole i drilled for the rawl plugs had got bigger, so they have become loose. The outside wall has a layer of render on it...

One other query, whilst up ladder. Bigger frontage of roof have what it looks like as polystyrene inserts into end's of tiles but on the smaller bit there are none. Any reason why this is? Took a couple of the guttering too. Rightly or wrongly, i raked all the loose stuff out & replaced it...

Got ladder out & got up there. Didn't have phone with me doh, but render on edge under tiles has cracked & bits are missing. Could that be the issue? Taken a couple of pics of other wall with guttering, not got a good camera on phone or i just take poor photos.

We've noticed a few small dark patches appear this week on one wall & would like any input on what it is. Put 2 pics up, but not very good quality. 2 things, we have had a shed load of rain lately, & there is no guttering above the outside wall. Can't see any cracks in outside wall either...

I have an Ideal boiler with horizontal flue. A couple of times in heavy rain & strong winds, water has come back into the boiler. Had a gas safe bloke in & basically he said not a lot can be done. I know i'm not allowed to do anything to it, but surely there must be something to stop it. Maybe...

Many thanks Diynutjob. It shouldn't get stepped on, but the law of averages it will. When you say normal paint, what do you actually mean & what kind of primer too?

The wife wants this painted. Ideally I would like to get rid of it, but i assume it's wouldn't be easy if possible ? Best way of painting it, complete rub down first? Would it need primer 1st or can you just paint it? Many thanks for reading this

Unfortunately not, every other window had been replaced before i moved in.

How difficult a job would it be to replace it for diyer? Also would it make much difference to condensation in this area, being able to have a window that you can open? Cheers

Afternoon peeps, wife wants door thresholds(3) painted gloss white. Looks like they have been previously stained. Is this a good idea in a heavy traffic area? What's the best type of paint to use if i do it & what preparation is needed. Sand stain off completely or will an undercoat seal it...
