Installed Insulation in loft, appropriate gaps for wiring

 Interesting stuff, shall have a look later for a plastic sheet etc. I couldn't see any moisture on the joists. Would a moderator mind moving this thread to the electric section? :)

Installed Insulation in loft, appropriate gaps for wiring

So today I started topping up the existing 100mm insulation in our flat with 200mm Krauf stuff. I've read on various sites that you're not to cover any electrical wiring with insulation due to the fact you'll be de-rating the current carrying capacity of the cable, but the consensus is lighting...

Backer immersion tank thermostat - no temperature guide?

Cheers for that. It's still odd though, if they don't want you to adjust it why have a dial at all? There's no reason not to have temperatures written on it. I've played with the dial so I guess I'll just have to measure the temperature at the taps.

Backer immersion tank thermostat - no temperature guide?

Recently replaced a pair of faulty thermostats with Backer resetting types when I realised that the Backer stats don't have the temperature written on them, for example: I've read that the ideal temperature is around 60c but how am I supposed to set it to this temperature, other than...

    Shock from amp plug

Probably stored energy in the capacitors. When you next unplug the amplifier, turn it on so that it can used up any remaining stored energy.

Question on transformers (toroidal not robots in disguise)

You need a dimmable transformer, the switch won't make a difference.

    Storage heaters full charge time

The output flap changes depending on its temperature, for example if the heater is cold then #4 on the dial might mean it would be fully open, however if the heater had been charging for some hours then #4 would be half open as the metal flap had distorted. (edit: actually I think the above...

Induction hob - Normal 13 amp plug?

I didn't realise it was such a heinous crime to bump threads from 3 months ago. Rather than bothering to search for an answer I'll just create new threads in the future, there's nothing better than multiple threads asking the same tedious question over and over. I happened to be searching for...
