I want to ban ball type pump valves

Never touch them, I have changed pumps by draining and then found them leak when I have not touched them!! If you take a pair of grips and firmly apply pressure to the front and back of the valve it sometimes clicks back into place and cures the leak. Worth a try seeing as otherwise you have...

    Potterton Netaheat Electronic 10-16

It has never been the correct way of doing things. But things were very different 23 yrs ago. How long is the flue? I assume it is in excess of the MI's Seeing as this cannot be rectified I hope that the engineer capped the supply and you are in the process of replacing it. This is...

Strike one for the little guys

"Which is why you can reach us every day. Even over Christmas," To me this says you can phone us, etc everyday. Even over Christmas. Nothing else. People who complain about these things need to get a life.

    Potterton Supriam HE 30

I think this is quite a good, simple, straight forward boiler. It is B rated so there are more efficient boilers out there. I have changed a few PCB's on the HE version but I don't know of any ongoing issues. But don't buy the Suprima 30HE buy the same boiler made by Main. Main are...

difference between 3 port & mid position valves

A 3-Port valve lets you select HW or Htg whereas a mid position valve lets you select HW, Htg or both HW and Htg. Yes you can change a 3-Port to a mid position valve but there will be some simple changes to your wiring. Hope this helps

    Bosch Dishwasher SGS5342GB/17

Thanks for your help Pour vinegar directly into the matrix. Took a while to drain. Kept on filling it up and then poured boiling water down. Suddenly with a couple of glugs the matrix suddenly drained. Ran a wash with the vinegar and it all seems fine.

    Bosch Dishwasher SGS5342GB/17

Mr Rocks1 Thanks for your help. The matrix of the side does look pretty similar to your picture. I have confirmed that nothing is blocked. I want to avoid removing it as it looks very involved. I have cleaned what I can get at. I have been observing its operation with the sides off...

    Wahing Machine JLWM1202

Thanks for your link, ransoms was where I had found the part details, but no picture. Took the bull by the horns and removed the part to get a better look. The leak was from the cold inlet where it sandwiches between the upper and lower parts of the drawer. It just slots in, not sealed at...

    Wahing Machine JLWM1202

I have a John Lewis branded washing machine that has developed a leak. The water is coming from the rear of the dispenser draw. I have removed the top and thought it was the spring clip between the rubber hose and the draw rear but having replaced the clip I now see that the water is coming...

Vaillant TurboMax Problem - Help please.

I may have missed this is a post. But I suspect that previously the service kit on the DV was changed and not the whole DV. And that has lasted 8 months. Now the whole thing needs changing. The original engineer was right, the second engineer was a waste of money. Call back the first...

    Bosch Dishwasher SGS5342GB/17

Our dishwasher does not wash very well in specific areas of the washer, mainly the top shelf. The top wash arm hardly spins at all and water just dribbles out of in. The lower arm sprays much better and washes. The arms are clear The filters are clear The water drains away OK I have...

This exactly the reason my advise stopped. Get an RGI The APS is effectively a safety device with your boiler. No doubt you think we are just trying to cause you a problem..... quite the opposite.

New House, brand new system, weird goings on.

Without seeing your house layout it is difficult to comment. I often see this. Attempts to zone the house that just fail. In one case a 3 storey house with a large open central staircase with the 3 stats on the on the landing of each floor. Effectively all in the same room and just 2.5m...

Don't remove the case, this is a positive pressure boiler. The fan supply is the 2 red wires coming off the PCB, far right as you lock at it. If you have power here it suggests a faulty fan. If not look at the air pressure switch before assuming the PCB. Hope this helps

bosch dishwasher not taking tablet and cleaning plates

No, my water is hot it just doesn't wash things consistently. Previously I remember opening the door mid session and being sprayed with water and seeing the arms spinning. Now the water pressure is low and the arms hardly spin. I suspect the pump motor is at fault. But I know very little...

    Gas Hob

Gas Safe Engineer required Although it maybe disconnected the uncapped pipe is potentially very dangerous and RIDDOR reportable If you were to cap the pipe you need to be able to test that your work is leak free. A Gas Safe Engineer will/should test the pipework for any leaks, cap the...

    Baxi solo 2 50 PF

How close is the pump to the boiler? How hot are the pipes? difficult to measure but are they too hot to keep your hand on? if so where, at the boiler/pump. What sort of state is the Feed and Expansion (smaller one in loft) tank in. Is the water cold, warm, hot, is it black and murky...

    Baxi solo 2 50 PF

Suggest you feel how hot the flow and rtn pipes at the boiler are. If they are hot and your rads are not then it suggests you have a circulation/pump problem. I'd say it is very unlikely to be PCB related. If you can try increasing the pump speed. Hope this helps
