    Insulating a bath ??

Hi, Just thought I'd throw this one into the forum, as you guys probably work with insulation materials the most :D The water in my acrylic bath gets cold pretty quickly. The space under the bath is directly against an outside wall. There's no insulation under the bath. Can you...

hot water and rad heating woes.

Hi, Just an update in case anyone uses this thread in a search for the same problem. I put a new diverter valve on today (£130), which was a pain in the @rse as I'm not a central heating techie (although I feel like one with all the things I've had to change on my Heatslave over the...

hot water and rad heating woes.

Thanks for the reply, so I take it I shouldn't be able to see the lever arm move across, it is done internally ??

hot water and rad heating woes.

Hi, I think I know what my problem is, but would like an expert opinion please. Over the last couple of months, when I've got the heating on and it comes to that special time for the hot water to be heated so I can have a bath, there has been a loud banging / humming through what I believe...

how to fix flaky paint on ceiling ?

Well, after reading a few threads on here I decided to put a thin coat of watered down emulsion on the bare area's where the paint had flaked. That seemed to work ok on the first coat. Although the bloody roller pulled some different bits off  After letting it dry, I put the second...

how to fix flaky paint on ceiling ?

Hi, I just thought I'd throw this topic open before I paint my ceiling. I'm about to paint a ceiling on my 1940's built house. I've just filled the cracks where the plasterboard joints are with caulk, but I'm not sure how to deal with the flaky paint I've scraped back to sound paint ? I...

    oil pump pressure settings ?

Slapper, I understand your gripe, you're probably a techie, I (and others) want to do things on the cheap thus doing you out of work ?? No probs, I respect your feelings and opinion. However, I'm quite proud that when I was starting out, and couldn't afford anything when I bought this...

    oil pump pressure settings ?

Slapper, Wow, that's some bite !! :D Had a rough day ?? Folks, make up your own minds as to whether I'm genuine or not, I've nothing to hide. Here's a link to the "sob story" in question: http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=207805&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Your...

    oil pump pressure settings ?

It might be worth just buying a cheap pressure tester as I don't believe the other settings would have changed ?? Just a general "how much of a turn on the screw" would help a lot for now. Cheers :)

    oil pump pressure settings ?

Hi Techies, Having just put a new Danfoss BFP41 oil pump in my Worcester Heatslave after a solenoid problem, the boiler is running rich and blowing soot out of the flue. The boiler was serviced a couple of months ago and set up by the engineer. I take it the oil pump has a factory set...

Heatslave lock out - please help !!

Yes it needs setting up for definate, there is soot on the external flue grill already :( Not sure whether to buy an oil pressure tester just to set the pump pressure, as the boiler was only serviced a couple of months ago. Or whether to leave it to a proffessional to do the full set up...

Heatslave lock out - please help !!

Hello, Just an update for today, I replaced the Danfoss oil pump, as it leaked a bit anyway, and with it came a new solenoid as I'm sure you would know. Once it was all back together I fired her back up and away she she went with not much bleeding at all. Has been running ok for a...

Heatslave lock out - please help !!

John, Thanks for taking the time to answer. I've re-set the lockout switch with the solenoid valve disconnected and put a screwdriver in the hole, I can't feel any magnetic pull. Does that suggest a faulty solenoid ? Can you put a magnet on the "thingy" that the solenoid magnetises...
