    Gas pipe sizing

Thanks for all the useful answers :). The work is being done by a mate who is Corgi registered. His day job is repairing appliances, not fitting them. It has been years since he fitted anything. I know some on here will say he shouldn't be doing it if he hasn't got the experience but as long...

    Gas pipe sizing

My god, why can't people just answer a simple question instead of constantly giving stupid comments? Who said anything about doing it myself?

    Gas pipe sizing

Hello All, I need to upgrade my gas supply pipe from 22mm to 28mm for approx 8 mtrs from the meter before reducing back to 22mm. If the first few inches of supply pipe from the meter are in 22mm would this cause a bottle neck restriction i.e. 22mm-->28mm-->22mm? TIA J

That sounds very expensive. Why not just use TRVs?

    Which programmer?

Hello All, I have a WB 30CDi System boiler and an unvented tank which I am trying to work out the electrics for. The 30CDi doesn't have the optional diverter valve kit fitted. There is a dual thermostat, 2 x 2 port valves, and timer/room stat to be wired in. Ideally I'd like to use a...

    Outside light wiring q's

I'm sure you're right. Every house in the UK with an outside light or other electrical appliance has to be notified? What happens if it's not? I find it hard to believe everyone declares it.

    Outside light wiring q's

Thanks for the repies guys. Think I'm getting there now (can you tell electrics isn't my trade, lol). You mention it being notifiable. What makes it notifiable? Would a single security light also be notifiable? Or is it the amount of lights etc? Cheers again, jim

    Outside light wiring q's

Hello All, I am planning to run a spur from a socket to the shed to supply an external socket (IP65) over a distance of approx 15 metres. Is this feasable or should it be on a separate circuit? Also, we will be putting 5-6 lights in the garden. Having had solar powered ones before which...

    New roof for loft conversion?

Unfortunately lowering the ceiling is a no-goer. It's a cottage so only has 7ft ceilings. The apex of the rafters is approx 210cm at the moment. So it would mean lowering by too much :(. Jim

    New roof for loft conversion?

Thanks for the advice. It was brought to light when the plans were drawn. We haven't had them finalised yet, just recieved the first drafts for approval/ammendment. The architect has said it would be tight but possible with the current roof. Looking at the plans I'd only be able to walk...

    New roof for loft conversion?

Hello all, We have had plans made up to convert our loft in to a large bedroom. Unfortunately, we have a ceiling height problem, ie not enough! Adding dormers will add some head room but not enough. The pitch of the roof is too shallow. Is it feasable to raise the height of the whole...
