Washer to join Male Comp Gland to Enclosure?

Tried a few drill bits to no avail until I used a 20mm flat wood bit to carefully make 2 holes in the Enclosure and it worked like a treat. Can I use a 15 Amp connector strip on 2.5mm cable or will it have to be 30 Amp to connect both 2.5mm cables? It's a spur which will feed from the Enclosure...

Washer to join Male Comp Gland to Enclosure?

Sorry, I should have updated my details. I'm now near St Albans, Herts. It's a Tower Male Com Gland from Screwfix (pack of 2), it has a rubber seal for the cables but no washers were included for the connection to the Enclosure. I will make the connections on the sides.

Washer to join Male Comp Gland to Enclosure?

Thanks for the advice. I need to drill two holes, one on each side to fit the 20mm gland. As I don't have a 20mm drill bit and have never drilled into plastic, could I make a fairly neat hole by using a 6mm HSS drill bit to drill a few holes and take off the remaining bits with a pair of pliers...

Washer to join Male Comp Gland to Enclosure?

Hi, I'm about to fit a weatherproof Enclosure. Should there be a washer to join the 20mm Male Comp Gland to the weatherproof Enclosure? I cannot find a 20mm washer anywhere. I could use some mastic but it could be tricky to apply in an awkward corner. Any advice? Many thanks.

    Spacers against laminate floor

I'm not too sure about using cork expansion strips to fill in the expansion gaps. Wouldn't the cork restrict some expansion, especially if the room receives lots of sunshine in the summer? My room is 14 square meters and an additional 1.5 square meters for the built in wardrobe (part of the...

    Spacers against laminate floor

Just wondering why so many plastic spacers are for sale (?)... Will I need to cut cork expansion strips in smaller sections and space them out or will they need to fill the whole expansion gap area? So for example, if the room is 16 square metres, should I need the same cork lenght? Also, how...

    Spacers against laminate floor

Hi, When installing laminate flooring, are the spacers meant to be removed once the laminate is laid out? Thank you.

    Repairing lime plaster wall

Hi, 1. Lime plaster can be light grey or white. The final coat should have a very fine sandy texture, if not it could be grey plaster. 2. You should be able to see hair within the base coat, unless it was originally plastered without. Hair can also decompose to an extent if the mature lime...

    Control suction on ceiling

Hi, I've got a fairly large ceiling to plaster with a few cracks to mend. The instructions for PVA say to prime with PVA/Water 1:5, once dry apply a second coat 1:3 and then start plastering once it goes tacky. But by the time I would finish the second coat would be dry! Could it be a problem...

Gap at the edge of tiles for hearth in fireplace recess

Hi, I'm about to lay a hearth made of thick quarry tiles L/W/H:150mm x 150mm x 15mm. As it is a fireplace recess (790mm wide), I need to start in the middle but that leaves me with a gap of 18mm each side at the front of the recess and 0.9mm each side at the back, less if I include the spacers...

    Overlap over painted wall

I have re-rendered with plastering sand and Natural Hydraulic Lime 3.5 (I had some spare). The old internal walls are rendered with sand and cement, and a grey finishing coat. The paintwork is old but sound. I was thinking of using PVA for the overlapping but was surprised Unibond's...

    Overlap over painted wall

Hi, I've re-rendered a section of an internal wall. I now want to skim it with plaster and will need to skim parts of the old wall as an overlap where the new plaster meets the old painted wall. I read Unibond PVA instructions and for some reason they say not to use it on painted walls (but it...

    Condensate pipe going slightly upwards

Thanks for your advice. I was also trying to understand the quote in the installation instructions that the pipe must fall I think 450mm per metre away from the boiler. I was also concerned over comments about it from perhaps a different future plumber when a service is due. But as long as no...

    Condensate pipe going slightly upwards

It was installed last year and I got a Gas Safe certificate for it. The installer told me there was a siphon in the boiler which, I believe would prevent any condensate from going back up to the boiler, which is unlikely unless there was a blockage in the drain or pipe. The pipe was...

Not at all... I thought anyone can work on plastic pipes away from the boiler or at least get some advice?

    Condensate pipe going slightly upwards

Hi, I've got a combi boiler with a syphon inside it and the condensate pipe is run internally to the waste pipe below the kitchen sink. The horizontal section slopes downward, however it then goes slightly upwards at an angle before it joins the grey waste pipe underneath it (please see pic)...

    Condensate insulated pipe 22mm external

Thanks for the diagram. Just an observation, it looks like the U bend for the sink is 19mm internal diameter minimum! At that size the sink would block so easily! I don't know if that's been overlooked by the manufacturers who drew that diagram but I've always seen U bends fairly large to...

    Condensate insulated pipe 22mm external

42mm is that the pipe diameter including insulation or just the plastic white pipe itself? ??? Mine ends just above the cast iron grate but sorry, I forgot to mention there is a rectangular metal cover just above it. So, the end pipe sits just above the grate but below the cover, you can see...

    Condensate insulated pipe 22mm external

I’ve got problems uploading pics for some reason. The insulation is the grey foam type and quite thick.. There were drops of water that froze from the dew on it overnight. The MI quote class O. Should it be a different colour? It’s an Ideal combi boiler with a syphon and the drain outside is...
