Any clever Engineers out there to help with some questions?

Thanks for the link Alarm, I will check it out. This is what I've come up with, but not too sure if I started it right or not.... Cheers EngStudent, I will PM you now

Any clever Engineers out there to help with some questions?

Can any one help me with some engineering science? Mainly Beams..... From the image I have posted, can anyone tell me how to do a Shear Diagram please? I have done examples like this before, but I'm not sure how to do this one as the UDL spans the whole beam....and I haven't done this before...

    Earthing SWA

Just a quick question for part of my course which I'm doing. If you were to spur a new distribution board off this ring main, the earthing would come from the SWA wouldn't it to the DB? I am NOT doing any work, just theory work for college, and I have to research etc. I think it comes...

High Flow Water Heaters - 150l/min

Just one hour, once a week

High Flow Water Heaters - 150l/min

Potentially outside yes! Can you think of a solution that way? We have a borehole which is getting upgraded, and the plant is internal, and we will be upgrading the storage capacity of this, but we don't have room inside for 9000l.

High Flow Water Heaters - 150l/min

Energy isn't really a concern, and up to a point, cost. Although the system will have to be around £15k. It doesn't need the heated water for sterilisation, but the freezer gets very greasy from fried products, and cold water cannot remove grease. The chemicals used are recommended to be used...

High Flow Water Heaters - 150l/min

At work we have a freezer, which currently uses cold water for the CIP system. But due to it not cleaning well enough, we have been advised to use warm water! The CIP system requires a flow of 150 liters per minute, which we can supply cold, but need a new water heater. The rise in water...

Thanks STI (do you own an impreza?) riveralt, I can get some photo's at the weekend. Yeah, I have a multi-meter and Megga.

RCD Tripping When Light Switched On

Apologise, I didn't mean for that to read how I actually wrote it! (I'm tired :) ) I did mean that I agree it has to be on the switched live side of the switch, and between the light fitting an extractor fan. So I guess it will be a matter of tracing it back, and hopefully find the fault...

RCD Tripping When Light Switched On

Hi, I did try disconnecting the switched live from the switch, and put it in connector block, then switched the switch. It didn't trip the RCD. Is this what you mean? Thanks a lot

RCD Tripping When Light Switched On

I will double check again the wires in the fitting/switch, but I'm sure they are ok. Do I need to really go down the route of tracing the switched live wire to the fitting? As it only trips the RCD when the switch is switched.

RCD Tripping When Light Switched On

Thanks for the replies. I don't think it will be the screws (could be wrong though), as the light fitting is screwed on to a beam, and the T+E comes out of the side. The fitting is all plastic. Like this The T+E is fairly old (black and red), and painted.....and nothing looks damaged...

RCD Tripping When Light Switched On

Issue.... A bayonet light fitting was replaced like-for-like, as it got damaged and everything worked fine for a week. Then all of a sudden, when the pull cord was pulled, it would trip out the RCD (100A, 30mA). Inside the bayonet fitting was a red, black and earth wire. If these are...

    Crimp Connectors

Correct, I am going to use them. Nothing related to what I have asked about on here. Thanks for the input though, really helped.

    Crimp Connectors

Thanks Jon, Yeah the Butt type. http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=6689040 What current are they safe for? As terminal block is rated, but these don't seem to have a rating on anywhere.

    Crimp Connectors

2+2 = 5 comes to mind. Why do you think I'm going to use them with 10mm cable??????

    Crimp Connectors

Apologise, I mean't to post a Yellow Crimp. What are these rate too?? I don't want to use it for a 10mm cable?! I know on other posts I've mentioned 10mm, but not this one.
