    Boiler going out

There is no storage tank in the attic just the one above the cylinder which is approx. half the size of the cylinder. I will check to see the water level as you suggest when the plumber calls later. Thanks

    Boiler going out

Don't know what a primatic cylinder is. Can only tell you that the cylinder is in an upstairs bedroom and there is a seperate small cold water cistern directly above it in the same cupboard. There is a bleeding valve on the side which I opened to let the air out and a lot of air came out. I used...

Just heard from the plumbing company the agent sent to the property. They have said they are going to drain the system to see if that works and the problem is with the cylinder?? If it doesn't work will need a combi boiler !!! sound familiar?? I am not a plumber but does this sound a bit fishy...

    Boiler going out

I am a bit worried. When you say REALLY SERIOUS do you mean it could be dangerous? It is in a house I rent out and she has a young family so I need to get it fixed asap. Only found out about it at 5 oclock. My usual plumber is in Spain. He rang me and said it could be the thermostat overheating...

    Smells from sink and shower.

Don't understand how they are all connected, but there are three floors and the problem is on the middle floor. There is a shower room on the top floor but that is not affected even though they all discharge into the same soil pipe eventually. As it only seems to occur when it is windy, do...

    Smells from sink and shower.

Hi, Our house was built in 2000 in a plot between properties built about 40 years ago. There was no other drainage just waste and we had to have permission for all drainage to discharge into the sewerage pipes like all other properties. The fall is excellent as we are on sloping ground and...

    Changing programmable timer???

Hi, I posted yesterday and had a reply from "45yearsagasman". I now have more info. The old timer is a Switchmaster 400 which is discontinued. The one I want to replace it with is a Honeywell CM61. Is this compatible? If not is there one recommended with more options than twice a day...

Hi 45yearsagasman (what a mouthful!!) Thanks for the reply. Without actually going to the house I will try to describeit. The box is brown with time dial. This has to be programmed by slotting orange clip for start and grey clear clip for stop time. This can only be done twice in 24 hours as...

    HONEYWELL CHRONOTHERM CM61

Hi folks, Can someone tell me if I can replace an older style central heating timer, (which only allows water and /or heating to come on and off just twice a day) with a Honeywell Chronotherm CM61. The heating system is a Baxi I think, with a gas fire in front and a storage water tank...

    Light permanenly ON

Thanks guys for all the replies. I think I'll get an electrician to fix it as I don't understand all the different (conflicting) views you have on the subject. As to the slap on the wrist from ban-all-sheds, I was asking for some advice not sarcasm. I've had no problems before because I...
