Have not actually seen it yet but the symptoms are the boiler and pump are working (Mistral Oil boiler) as is the hot water but no CH.They tell me someone else has looked at it but can not fix it for two weeks. As I know them I've agreed to go have a look .They also said the previos guy told them...
Hi , just a quick one .I notice in the FAQ's on motorised valves that some of the Honeywell valves may not be designed for head replacement. Is this particular models as i have to go to look at what sounds like a problem V4043H valve tomorrow and would like to take the correct part with me to...
It generally roars away like an open fire. And another thing is when you close the front panel the burner cuts out .When i arrived the front panel was only half attached and swinging open. I just assumed the owner had left it like this for me but he said it had been like that for a few years now...
Hi , can anyone recommend a course of action for a 12 year old Myson Velair Vittesse oil boiler which is generally noisy in operation.A couple of the retarders are scrap and i have recommended replacement but will this reduce the noise or would a chemical additive help ?
It's sad i know but i find this all too interesting and in need of further advice. As a fairly new entrant to this line of work i have never converted from Y to S plan before (really i just maintain oil boilers, part time). Can i simply do away with the three port and add 2 two ports close to the...

Wondered if anyone had any thoughts on the following ? Went to service a 100k btu Stanley cooker/boiler which went fine but the owner said they had never had great heating performance out of it. The property was a LARGE open plan farmhouse with approx. 18 LARGE rads. Some of the rads were not...
You say the "problem started" so the boiler must have worked OK to begin with.Sounds like it's short cycling on its own stat rather than working from the room stat so try checking for loose wires on either room stat or boiler and check the room stat is functioning properly.Hope this helps.
I need to fit a remote acting fire valve on a domestic oil fired boiler.I see BES sells Peerless thermostatic valves and KBB capillary valves.Anyone have an preferences on these or any other types and why ?All help much appreciated in advance.Thanks.
Probably wide of the mark but if the heat can escape anywhere from the roof space, cold air may be drawn in through floor vents or somewhere at floor level.
Hi ,can anyone give me advice on how to get the hook ,which joins the toilet handle to the plunger(?),reunited.Somehow the hook has come out of the plunger and the plunger has dropped inside the mechanism. Thanks in advance.
If you run your car on neat Kero you will prematurely wear the engine at best and at worse completely sieze it up due to Kero being "dry", and not lubricating like diesel.
Hi, this one is probably quite easy to you pro plumbers. The system is sealed with several rads and a Grant oil boiler which is working fine. The problem is when the boiler reaches temp. and switches off there is a banging noise in the pipes under the bedroom floor.I'm sure this never used to...
