Navien oil boiler - smart controls

Hello All I have more or less convinced myself to get a Navien oil boiler to replace my ageing (and leaking) Danesmoor. They seem to have good reviews, seem a bit more modern that others, and are quite a bit cheaper. Question - is anyone here familiar with the various control options? If you...

    Change regular to system boiler

It is pumped central heating, gravity hot water - so one motorised valve only at the moment. I was thinking adding the hot water onto the circuit with an additional MV would be simple enough?

    Change regular to system boiler

I'm getting a new boiler (oil). Current set up is traditional vented, expansion tank in the loft etc. I was assuming I would just replace like for like - i.e. get a new regular/heat only boiler, and leave the rest as is. One plumber has suggested I put in a system boiler instead and ditch the...

New Boiler - Kitchen or Utility model

Looking to get a new oil boiler. Old boiler is a Worcester Bosch Danesmoor 15/19. Going to replace more or less like for like, but given a new extension going to go for a slightly higher powered version - 18/25. Question is whether to go for the 'Normal' or 'Utility' version. The only...

    PIR insulation board cutter

Thanks all. A bit of food for thought. I am planning on using gapotape as well, even though expensive but I hope will make the job a little less frustrating! Cheers

    PIR insulation board cutter

I am about to start insulating an extension roof. It involves cutting a large amount of 100mm PIR insulation board. Having cut a few bits already with a hand saw, it is very hard to get a straight line at 90 degrees all the way through. There is a Festool PIR cutter which looks perfect for the...

    Identifying parts

The relay in the box has "Schrack MT206203".... is that a wiring centre? What is it actually doing if so?

    Identifying parts

Just done some googling.... I think that could well be what No.1 is, albeit a very old one. Thank you. As for No.2 - I wrote solenoid, but actually I think actually it could be some kind of relay switch? It has a clear case and you can see copper coils in it.... any ideas?

    Identifying parts

I have just dismantled my old oil boiler (22 yrs old) and electrics that go along with it. A new one will be installed later in the year, and moved to a different location due to building works. In doing so, there are a couple of components in the electrics that I have no idea what they are...

    Concrete Mixes

The wall is now internal (i.e. used to be external, but now that the extension is built, it is internal) - so no issue with insulation or cold bridging....

    Concrete Mixes

The beam is 203mm UC - with a 280mm plate welded on top to hold up both sides of the cavity wall. Hence I assume the correct way is one big padstone sat across the cavity, with the beam sat in the middle.... that is certainly what I have taken from the SE calcs (although they could be clearer)....

    Concrete Mixes

300mm cavity. So will sit 300mm over cavity, 300mm long, 215mm high. I should be able to get at least a 200mm bearing on it with the beam...

    Concrete Mixes

300x300x215... or thereabouts. Can't find one that size anywhere, but also the access is a right pain so I was thinking it might be easier to just shutter up once the beam is held in place and then pour the concrete in under it.... still getting my head around it to be honest. When you say 2:1...

    Concrete Mixes

Does anybody have a definitive guide to the different strengths of concrete, and the ratios of how to mix? Online searches are confusing to say the least.... C20, C30 etc... M20, M35 etc... Gen 1...?? For what it's worth, I am after a mix for C35 for a cast in-situ padstone.

    Padstone size - confused

I have the spec of my padstones from my SE - but he has gone AWOL and I am unable to clarify with him what exactly he means. This is a single RSJ, with top plate, that will be supporting an old, standard brick cavity wall (approx. 300mm wide). The structural calcs refer to "Padstone 1 & 2" -...

    Danesmoor 15/19 intermittent immediate lockout

Morning all. Another lockout issue with my elderly (Yr 2000) Worcester Danesmoor 15/19 oil boiler. It runs fine most of the time, but on restart sometimes it just doesn't fire. It doesn't seem to happen mid-run, just when it is restarting. The motor and fan runs, and I hear one click (from...

Water ingress under new (professionally fitted) garage door

I've got one of these doors, and unless you have a slight fall on the concrete away from the garage (as I do), or I assume some kind of threshold installed then you've got no chance... Obviously it depends on the exposure of the door and the direction the rain comes in, but in general there is...

Oil boiler lockout - Danesmoor 15/19

New coil from ebay now installed, and all working perfectly... many thanks!

Oil boiler lockout - Danesmoor 15/19

Thanks.. is the coil more likely to be the culprit rather than the solenoid itself, as I notice they are two separate parts?
