    Contactum RCD's & TD RCD's

Already contacted DNO to ask for PME after looking on their website i was expecting (and happy) to pay around £49 + VAT but when i phoned they told me as it wasn't available in my area it would cast me around £300 as they would need to do work on their network. I think with all my MCBs, RCDs and...

    Contactum RCD's & TD RCD's

Hello RF, Only TD RCD's in TLC are MK, it would cost me MEGABUCKS to replace everything i've bought for an MK one. Plus i was under the impression that the method i had describes was an accepted one Pic as Requested John Thanks Jamie

    Contactum RCD's & TD RCD's

Sorry John i must not have been too clear. I would take tails from the Main Iso to both RCD's, this way the 2 RCD's won't be inline so i shouldn't have discrimination probs?

    Contactum RCD's & TD RCD's

Hello All, Quick question. I need to replece my CU and do a full rewire. I have already bought the CU, 30mA RCD & MCB's (Contactum) but have now come to order the 100mA TD RCD (TT Supply) and learned that contactum don't do them. Would it be OK to split my split board using a conversion kit...

    Shed/Garden Supply

RCD is 100mA but not sure if it is a TD one (don't think it is, says 100mA, 80A, CAT WEM 80/2), it is the only RCD in the installation atm. I plan on a full rewire and CU sometime in the next 6 months (electrics are really old, no earth in light circuit) where i will be using a overall 100mA TD...

    second consumer unit

I'm with Steve on this one, would go with 16mm SWA, better to go too big than too small. If you wanted to use anything smaller i would find out the power requirements for each item and post em, that way you can work out the exact (or close enough) size of cable needed. Steve: Not a cert...

Garage MCB ratings on 6mm cable

    Faulty o/s pir lights ?

I think the reason that they don't recommend Energy Saving (Florecent) blubs for PIR type enclosures is the time they take to warm up to the specified rating. As for the PIR have you tried turning them off then straight back on again. Reason for this is that my PIR Floodlight has two modes...

Hi Guys, In middle of running a sub Main into Shed/Decking area. Using 10mm2 3 Core SWA XLPE cable and have a quick question regarding the earthing. Would it be best to export the earth from the main CU or install local earthing rod at the sub main? Thanks In Advance Jamie

SPLIT LOAD CONSUMER UNIT now with photos of present consumer

Just took a look at MegaWatt's post and pic - Out of curiosity can you get time delayed RCDs for Contactum CU's? My setup would be much neater if i could get rid of the HUGE RCD that is inline before the CU. THanks Jamie

    Mains Electrical Cable

Hello Guys, Got a quick question. Recently my brother went through a 2.5" 415V 3 Phase (thats what the jointer said) with a Hilti Hammer. The Cable was buried about 6" below the surface of my mums lawn/patio. The electrical company have done an emergency repair and have now come to bury the...

    RCD Protection

Not an expert but i think the regs say that Showers, cookers, hot tubs etc. and any socket that could be used to supply outdoor equiptment needs to be protected with an RCD or RCBO (MCB & RCD in one little device). Hope this helps Jamie

    Clean & Dirty Supply

Hello Again Guys, Had a spark around this morning to take a look at my existing wiring, i thought i just needed to replace the three ancient distro boxes with a nice new split load consumer unit and MCBs. Apparently i need a full rewire due to the lack of earthing in my lighting circuit...
