    Cupped Door Frames

They don't appear to have twisted, and yes lots of plaster drying out, humidity has been as high as 90% for a while, coming down to around 60% now.

    Cupped Door Frames

As title suggests, my newly installed interior door frames have cupped. Is there anything I can do to correct this? does it even matter? The doors have not been hung yet. During renovation work the central heating was off for about a month, the house got really cold and damp and the frames...

    Public Speaking

I used to do public speaking, I did the LAMDA exams, got from grade 3 through 7 and onto silver medal. Mostly speaking verse and prose rather than actually presenting. There was a lot of theory too at the higher grades, learning how to project your voice etc. I lost interest as I got older...

    Replacing Imperial radiator

Yes just tried and that has worked. Can't believe I didn't spot it, I must be losing the plot :?

    Replacing Imperial radiator

That would work too, Having a mare trying to find anything like though, most seem to be the opposite way to what I need. The valve is 3/4" male and the rad is 15mm female.

    Replacing Imperial radiator

Well thats me proved completely wrong. It definitly is an allen key fitting. Found a nice big allen key and the old tail came out ok, screwed into the new rad no problem. So I just need a 3/4" extension piece.

    Replacing Imperial radiator

Yes that would work, I'd prob need the 3/4" version though by the sounds of it. I did try to remove the old rad tail but it's stuck pretty fast tight. Definitly not an allen key type and doesn't appear to be much of a flat to get a spanner on either. Must have screwed in there somehow though...

    Replacing Imperial radiator

Must be 3/4" then, it's def bigger than the radiator fitting. I already have a 15mm extension, it fits the rad but not the valve. I'll try and get a pic uploaded, it's throwing up an error at the moment.[/img]

    Car leasing?

Not sure if it is exactly what you are looking for, but I have been pleased with my Access Toyota lease from Toyota Finance. Might be worth a look, assuming you might be interested in a Toyota of course. I've found the main dealers generally very helpful too. The car I wanted was £15k my...

    Isolating Central Heating pump

Hi, I posted a thread a while ago as I was having some problems with a noisy boiler. Well I tracked down one of the noises to the central heating pump, I don't think it's faulty, but it hums and transmits that along the pipework, which then transmits it around the house. It's definitly the...

    Replacing Imperial radiator

Hi, I am in the process of replacing an old imperial radiator (I asked some advice on another thread regards which type to get) I went for a Quinnn Round top in the end. Obviously the new rad is a bit shorter than the imperial size one, so I have a couple of valve extensions. One...

    Buzzing Boiler

Spoke too soon I think, still making the same noise, albeit at a reduced level. Why on earth is it buzzing and humming through the walls of the house!

    Buzzing Boiler

Just an update to this. You could be right about air in the system, I felt one of the upstairs radiators last night and was stone cold. I opened the bleed valve and no kidding it was a good 20sec or so before all the air had come out. I was up and down several times after that bleeding a...

    Buzzing Boiler

Tried different pump speeds, didn't make a massive difference, if anything worse when slower and better when higher, but really just changed the pitch of the noise (and made a lot of extra noise from the pump when on max) There were 3 readings the engineer showed me, some were spot on and...

    Replacing imperial Rad

Any views on the Barlo radiators from screwfix? they looked like a decent bet at a reasonable price.

    Replacing imperial Rad

Yeah I looked at the Myson Premier HE, but even their single panel convectors stick out an inch further than my current one. In fact most single panel convectors I've found stick out as much as my current double panel ones. I know they are more efficient, problem is I just don't have the...

    Buzzing Boiler

Haha yes it may well be, hopefully it can hang on a bit longer, to be fair it's done good service for 10 years. My dad's got a Worcester boiler which is great so gonna have to start saving I think.
