    Repointing house walls

Hi there, we need to repoint our exterior brick walls of the house (just half a dozen rows at the bottom), where the mortar has become loose and fallen out in places. Mostly this is around the damp proof membrane. I have never used cement in my life but am wondering from reading up on the...

    Installing new shower

Hi, we have a leaking Mira Sport shower, 7.5kw. A friend of mine has a 9.0kw one for sale, but I don't know if the cabling will take the extra, how can I tell. If I look at the fuse box there is a fuse for shower plus about 4 different things (lights etc) all listed under RCD protected circuits...

    Kitchen PVC door problem

Thanks for your replies - crank39 you were absolutely spot on with your assessment and instructions to determine this. First trick as you say is not to remove the smaller screws! The problem I found to be that the top gear mechanism has a crack in the top which causes it to not lay tight against...

    Kitchen PVC door problem

Hi, we've had a kitchen PVC door for around 10 years. For about a year its not been able to 'click' shut - the triangle part of the protruding central lock is jammed so whenever we shut it we have to lift the handle to secure - no biggy but last week I had the bright idea of seeing if I could...

Leaking shower unit - Mira Sport

Ah ok, cool, so it should eventually stop dripping if we don't turn it on. It's been dripping probably now for 4-5 days. Thanks again for your help and advice.

Leaking shower unit - Mira Sport

Just picking up on a couple of things on your last post - "No more than i could only by running the shower and watching." and "The leak won't get worse overnight as the showers solenoid coil won't let water through when shower not in use. But isolate the pullcord etc." - but the...

Leaking shower unit - Mira Sport

OK - final question for now - bearing in mind I've switched off the electricity supply, is there anything more I could do myself (bearing in mind I'm no electrician) to pinpoint the exact leak source - there's a few screws around the heat can but not sure it looks that easy to remove the flow...

Leaking shower unit - Mira Sport

Thanks - if it were to be that, is it reasonably fixable - if I give a plumber a call would they be able to sort it out fairly easily in your opinion? Thanks again.

Leaking shower unit - Mira Sport

OK I've had a further look tonight and attached a new pic with my findings. I think the join between the heat can and flow valve is ok, I certainly can't see any sign of scale around it. However you will see on the new pic that the leak comes over the flow part of this area (lower circled)...

Leaking shower unit - Mira Sport

Thanks Dan. Sorry to appear dumb but could you advise where abouts the flow valve is, maybe on the pic? Thanks again.

Leaking shower unit - Mira Sport

Hi, we have a Mira Sport shower unit which is approx 10 years old. We don't use it that much (it's in the 2nd bathroom) but I noticed a few days ago it was dripping from the bottom of the unit. Having a quick google around there are suggestions of scale buildup possibly on the inlet valve(?) -...

    Sink waste end cap

Thanks guys, is just getting an end cap an (easier) option?

    Sink waste end cap

Sorry for the confusion - here is a pic - its the black cap and rubber seal within it I'm on about - there's actually another end cap you can just see round the back (the white one), which is just an end cap but its the black one which leaks as the rubber is on the way out. Thanks for any...
