I have a 2 gang switch on/off controlling two sets of lights, and one light can't be dimmed. So I will be buying a new double gang dimming light switch but I will need to replace one of the switchs with a dummy dimmer to keep it looking the same.
Thanks - I found one described below.
What does offset spindle mean ?
Do I need to match the faceplate with the switch module or are different brands interchangeable?
BG DUMMY DIMMER SWITCH 2 WAY PUSH ON/OFF, 8A OFFSET SPINDLE
Yes one or two lamps, I was just wondering if it had to be 10A because that's what the protection on the circuit is - read something about all devices having to be rated for the circuit rating.
My lighting circuit is a 10A circuit
I am looking for a dummy dimmer module but all the ones I see are only rated for 6Amp or 8 Amp.
I presume I need a 10 Amp rated module and would anyone know if a 10A dummy dimmer exists ?
One follow up on this - I'll be putting the timer in the attic and running cable out to the lights and PIR - is it ok to do it all in flex ( 3183P ? ) from attic through soffit to outside ?
Thanks - unfortunately I have no idea about car wheels.
Are you saying a coat of suitable spray paint would be fine assuming surface is clean. No need for any etching priming ?
I found some outdoor light fittings I'd like to buy but they only come in one shade of near black.
How difficult would it be to repaint to a colour of my choice ?
They are die cast aluminum.
I saw some CROP spray paints online, never heard of them but they also do a epoxy primer and a clear...
Yeah it's double sided alright but not sure how I'd get a cable into it or drop it down into wall if I did.
If I did manage to cut out a rectangle big enough for a recessed light then I don't think I'd have any issue fishing a cable up from below ground level.
Would a multitool cut through...
If I go with surface mounted - it is easy to fish a cable in below ground level and bring it out about a foot higher for the fixture. ( Baring in mind it's a cavity block ) Or should I just chase it out and re render ?
Thinking about this some more - I have a follow up question.
I have three external lights - two at the front path and one at the corner of the house.
Is it possible to have only the 2 path lights come on with the timer but all three come on if the PIR is activated ?
How can I keep the corner...
I'd like to install some recessed brick lights in my wall in the rendered section under the cedar - see photo.
As far as I know it's a cavity block wall.
Wondering how easy or difficult it would be to cut out the recess for the light - and wire up from ground level. Presume I'd have to get the...
In my hall I have three on/off rocker switches for the lights which are all recessed down lights. One switch at each end and one in middle of hall. I would like the option to use a dimmer for the lights.
I have seen some led lights which dim based on the amount of times the switch is turned on...
Thanks, yeah I have one similar from Steinel although the one i have doesn't let me program it, it does have a basic light function with PIR. Do you know of other brands . The reason I ask is because I am looking for a particular light design and color and can't find one which offers the...
I'd like to be able to schedule my outdoor lights to come for a few hours each evening but at a dimmed output.
I'd like the lights to be on fully if the PIR is activated, at any time in the night.
Could I wire a smart wifi switch in series with / feeding a dimmer and have a PIR in parallel to...
Looking to get some tinted UV protection oil for outdoor cedar cladding. I like the UV clear but I would like a slightly darker red tint to blend in with other timber on my house.
I looked at the light red tint from Osmo posted in another thread and it seems quite dark.
Just wondering if it...
