    Thanks Ken, I will have a look at that site. When you think, it's only about 25 yrs ish ago, and in that time the insulation has really moved on. Would like to think that it has 50mm but not with my luck!

    Your not alone, that's why I asked on here, so thanks Wessex . We will replace the old floor covering, mostly it has carpet. Can I also ask for recommendations for underlay for say engineered oak flooring to help the insulation of the floors. Thanks, Pete
