Hi, I'm planning to change two radiators The current radiators are double pannel single convector. They were fitted many years ago and doesn't give out much heat. Therefore, I want to get something which gives more heat for the same dimension. I'm more interested in the double panel double...

    Loft Insulation

Thanks very much John! I can now happily go grab those bargain rolls now! :-) In terms of hte air gap between rafter insulation and the tiles, how can I check this? I had a look earlier on in the loft and it looks to me that the existing rafter insulation is glued onto some sort of felt. Does...

    Loft Insulation

Hi, I'm planning to insulate the loft (floor joists). A few questions here and would appreciate any advise. The distance between the floor joists is about 57.5cm. Searching in DIY stores, I can't find precut rolls with the exact width but spotted a special offer with B&Q - £3 for 3 rolls...

Can party wall notice served be cancelled?

Yeah, I agree and I hope it's just me overconcerning now. The other surveyor hasn't questioned about this wall yet. It was more of me wanting to be 100% sure that I'm 'free' of PWA now. Just don't want my neighbour complains later and involve his surveyor again.

Can party wall notice served be cancelled?

I am confused about the 'touching' part too. Checking on PWA, in Section 2 it says if I intend to "increase the thickness of the party walll and, if necessary, cut off any projections which prevent you from doing so..." then I have inform my neighbour. So I think the question is whether...

Hi all, Just a quick upate - My surveyor has got back to me this morning and advised the same thing. He's going to write to my neighbours about the plan change. So hopefully this would sort things out. I do, however, have another problem and would like to get a second opinion. Although...

Can party wall notice served be cancelled?

Big thank you! that's really useful information. I've tried phoning CAB, Community of Local Government, etc in the last couple of days and no one could advise. It's such a relieve to know that I'm not 'tied in' with the notice. Just a few more questions on what happens next, e.g. do I need...

Can party wall notice served be cancelled?

Thanks! I am planning to alter the work to invalidate the notice but just wanted to make sure that I won't have to carry on paying neighbour's surveyor if my neighbour carries on consulting him. He charges for every single phone call/email/letter he made......Just a few examples: - My...

How to hack off internal render and plaster

    Help - Damp chimney breast

Big thank you again, Roy! If I rerender the bottom part of the wall, say 1.5m from ground and leave the higher part as is, Would I have the risk of water coming in from higher part and gradually moving toward the bottom parts and cause damp again? ummm....now you makes me think....I'm...

How to hack off internal render and plaster

Yeah, pretty sure. It's been rerendered twice in the last 5 years, both due to dampness. Which is why I want to leave the brickwork exposed until I'm sure the dampness has been sorted then I can rerender it. Yeah, if they're loose then it's alot easier to hack off. My husband tried to hack...
