    Flush plate

Hi. I have a concealed cistern, same as in the link, with a cable operated dual flush mechanism. I want to change the button for a flush plate but are all cable operated systems the same? What I mean is do they all have the same end on the cable that clicks into the back of the button/ plate...

    Black mould

Its the side of the fridge thats against the wall, about half an inch gap. I'm doing some alterations in that room including moving the fridge to another corner that isn't external. I can pull the plasterboard down and add more insulation but 125mm would cause a few problems. I can double it to...

    Black mould

Hi all. I pulled a fridge freezer out of the corner of the utility room and there was a patch of mould on the wall. It was about half a metre up from the floor and roughly the size of a dartboard. The wall the mould is on is an external wall which is single brick. It has battens screwed to it...

    Shower pump problem

It wasn't the pump it was a combination of my setup and the mixer having too many restrictions for it all to work properly. It's good to see a manufacturer have a representative on a message board like this. My CT50 has been in daily use for about 9 years and never given a problem even though I...

    Shower pump problem

I've had another try at getting the thermostatic mixer bar rainfall shower to work and it now works perfectly. I finally did what @steve32 said to do on page 1 and remove the nrvs built into the mixer. Took them out and it works great. Previously if I changed the temperature or moved between...

    Shower pump problem

I've got less than 100mm head, the pipes in the loft are just under the tank. I thought the head to the pump was from the underside of the CWT to the pump itself. The head to the shower is from the pipes in the loft to the CWT which is very low and why I need a pump. It's all a bit confusing. [...

    Shower pump problem

Eight litres a minute according to Triton and .5 bar pressure which is the same pressure needed as my previous thermostatic. I'm not sure how this works. The pump needs 2 litres a minute but the mixer needs 8. So does that mean I need 8 litres a minute before the pump otherwise the water doesn't...

    Shower pump problem

I'm going to mothball the thermostatic bar for now. I'm busy converting a downstairs room off my utility into a downstairs shower room so I'll keep it for that if I ever get it finished. Hopefully it will work on the ground floor or if I get a combi fitted. I liked that valve when it worked the...

    Shower pump problem

This basic single lever mixer I've fitted is now working great so I'm just going to stick with this for now. After bleeding the pipes and a couple of uses it operates the pump in any position of the temperature range and does it even after leaving it for almost 24 hours. There obviously is...

    Shower pump problem

This new basic mixer I've fitted is working ok though not perfectly. It's pulsed on and off a few times while not in use. It was doing that earlier and continuously so I bled the pipes and it stopped. It also wont start the pump when the temp is set in the middle, though there is water coming...

    Shower pump problem

When I had the thermostatic mixer fitted if I turned on the shower with the pump switched off nothing came out of the shower head. That's with the temperature set in the middle. If I switched on the pump and bled the pipes in the loft the pump kicked in and the shower worked. There was just a...

    Shower pump problem

Well talk about sods law. I've left the non thermostatic valve for about 3 hours, went to try it again, put it in a central position and the pump didn't start. There was a reasonable amount of water coming out of the shower head without the pump but not enough for a decent shower. I moved the...

    Shower pump problem

I looked at that possibility but in the next year or so I'm going to get a combi or a unvented system fitted. The mixer valve I bought will still be useable but the pump won't. They're a bit expensive to only use for a year or two.

    Shower pump problem

The strange thing is if I open the bleed nipples in the loft with the pump off the hot comes out in a little jet. The cold just bubbles over the top of the nipple. I'll remove the non returns from the valve tomorrow and see if that works. Thanks for all the help it's appreciated.

    Shower pump problem

I'm going to try and remove them when I get a minute. The cheapo valve I've just fitted has them and it works without problems but it isn't thermostatic.

    Shower pump problem

I take your point about measuring the water flow out of the head and not the bottom of the valve but the shower doesn't work if I drop the shower head into the bath. It was just easier to do out of the valve. If I set the shower away without the pump running nothing comes out of the valve in...

    Shower pump problem

After doing the flow test I reconnected the shower hose and tried the shower. With the temperature in the centre I switched it on and the pump operated fine. I moved the flow control (which isn't a separate valve but on the left hand end of the bar) to the rainfall setting and it stopped...

    Shower pump problem

I checked to see how much water came through the shower without the pump running. I disconnected the shower hose from the bottom of the valve, set the temp to the middle and switched it on. Nothing came out at all. Back into the loft opened the bleeders the cold quickly flowed out the nipple...

    Shower pump problem

I'll fit a nrv and see what that does. I think my problem is flow rather than air because the amount I get out is tiny, just a hiss then water. The bleed nipples are on 6" long vertical pipes so the air isnt in the main pipework. Keeping the bleed nipples open got it all flowing and activaved...

    Shower pump problem

Doh. I posted the wrong image I didn't notice that diagram had a single end pump. I've removed it now.
