    LG Dishwasher - Sandy Residue

Hi. Our dishwasher is now 8 years old. Love it, but its starting to give us some trouble  After each wash (no matter the program), it leaves a sandy deposit. The deposit is only in the top and the performance itself is still good (albeit the wracks starting to rust where the odd bit...

    Panasonic Microwave

Our microwave is circa 8 years old (the same as our dishwasher, on another thread!). It has recently starting making a moaning/groaning sound when going round. It doesn't seem to do it when nothing is on the glass dish, but when you put something in it, it starts with the moaning/groaning...

Hot Water Tank (and boiler?) Working, but CH/Water Timer not

Strange this. I went back in to the airing cupboard and moved both switches from automatic to manual and back again a few times. So far, touch wood, it's all working fine again :o/

Hot Water Tank (and boiler?) Working, but CH/Water Timer not

Thanks. Needing to get the boiler serviced so may throw this one in as well. Thanks again. Really appreciate the guidance.

Hot Water Tank (and boiler?) Working, but CH/Water Timer not

Hi Pete. Had a quick look at the boxes. I have two? 1. Silver Honeywell with black wire. Switch set to automatic (can't read the other settings). 2. White box with white wire. Switch set to automatic with other option of manual (?) Not sure if this helps?

Hot Water Tank (and boiler?) Working, but CH/Water Timer not

Cheers Pete. Is that an easy thing to do? Have noticed that despite this morning, we are having the same issue tonight. I have however noticed something else strange. So, timer on timed and not on. No red lights on the timer (Potterson?) to indicate it is on. Timer is 17.30 to 19.00...

Hot Water Tank (and boiler?) Working, but CH/Water Timer not

Hmmmm....going to have to try and remember as I'm not at home now. I do believe it is something like the second picture?

Hot Water Tank (and boiler?) Working, but CH/Water Timer not

Just a little more information now I'm awake! For information, the boiler unit is an Ideal Icos (ground floor) with a tank on the second floor (three storey house). Noticed last night when I wa checking things out, the boilers 'burner' light was on whilst the tank seemed to be working...

Hot Water Tank (and boiler?) Working, but CH/Water Timer not

Hi. Just woken up in the night by the sound of our water tank (loud as in over working than over loud if that makes sense). I was sounding like it had been on for ages and was warm in the airing cupboard. Water pressure was fine. Went downstairs and the timer for the CH was off, and...

    Leaking Radiator

Thanks. Fingers crossed. No further leaks now the bolt is on.

    Leaking Radiator

Sorry. You are right. It was the spindle that snapped. I have opened it up and radiator was heating all over. Ok. It was actually leaking water from here without the bolt on. I guess that putting it back on will prevent any leaking (by leaking I mean just a very slow dribble from the bottom of...

    Leaking Radiator

Right. Tested heating, and radiator working fine. Main issue though now is that water is seeping from the valve! Have I turned it anticlockwise too far? Or could it be air in the radiator as I've bled it since and there was quite a bit of air in it?

    Leaking Radiator

Ok. Have turned the top bit a few times round and also the bolt (anticlockwise). I guess leave and try again later to check its heating all over? If not, turn again? To be fair, it's actually easy to turn the top bit with some pliers.

    Leaking Radiator

Thanks. Sorry to sound harsh, but prefer constructive feedback to negative. Before I have a go at your suggestion, I have gone back downstairs to have a look. Considering that no water was coming out when I took the plug out, an have since filled the system back up, if water is coming out...

    Leaking Radiator

Whilst I agree if its not going to work, but only trying to establish is, if the valve is clockwise, is that open or closed? I'm asking because if I have closed the valve, why did it drain the whole system? Sometimes, when times are hard, you do try and fix things yourself. If it goes wrong...

    Leaking Radiator

    Tightened clockwise or anticlockwise?

    Leaking Radiator

Sorry for the delay guys. Eventually got around to doing this. On the rediator, I figured there was only one valve as the other end had a temperature control on it. Either way, I think I drained the system   Still, when I took the plug out, no water came out, so at least did...

    Peeling Paint in Bathroom

I actually came back on to post about another topic, but thought it would be worth posting this as well. Our house is nearly 8 years old, and built by a national builder. About 1 year ago, the paint started flaking above the shower. To cut a long story short, but the time I finished...

    Leaking Radiator

OK. I am by no means an expert or even an amateur at this, but I always like to try and attempt a repair if it is in my realms of capabilities. We are having an issue with one of our radiators leaking, except it doesn't seem to be in the usual place. At the top, there are to ends. One is the...

Inlet Pipe on Toilet - Leaking

Thanks again SS. Will look at the seal, and for a hair line crack. Failing that, a new valve. Failing that, a plumber  Another stupid question (following on from my stupid question in my other thread) - how do I fill the cistern back up? Turn on the water and wait/flush? Thanks...
