    Room thermostat for Vaillant Thermocompact

Hi, I'd like to install a room thermostat. I'm not worried if its hard wired over wireless. I have a Vaillant Thermocompact installed in 2003. Not sure of exact model number. It is currently controlled with a Lifestyle timer unit. Would the Vaillant VRT 30 work? If not could you...

2 month old turf turning red?

Hi, I laid some turf about 2 months ago. Spent a lot of time clearing the ground etc. This week I have noticed a couple of areas of the lawn turning a rusty red colour as in the photo. Any idea what this is and how I can cure it? Thanks Dan[/img]

The IEC is 10A, the plug has 5A and a 5AMP fuse but I can change that. So it should be fine?

Kettle lead power supply to LCD TV

Hi, I've just got a new TV and wall mounted it. The power cable it has come with is too short (1.5m) so I have managed to find a longer one (3m). There is a difference in the size of the wire, the original is 0.75mm2 with a 10 AMP fuse and the new longer one is 1.00mm2 with a 5 AMP fuse...

No hot water. How to resolve.

Thanks for the replys so far. Yes I agree about the pipes looking bad but aslong as they work OK. I have a 3 month old son so a bath is essential now, it wasnt such an issue before and we lived without it. Can a room stat be wireless as i'm not sure how a cable could be dropped down...

No hot water. How to resolve.

Hi, I hope you can advise me here. Since moving into our house we have had very little hot water. If the boilers on for 6 hours it is only just better than the cold tap. The radiators get nice and hot as you would expect them to. We had a plumber round to quickly look and he said it was...

I have 30 years in the P+D trade...........no I actually work in IT. I don't know everything about P+D and haven't said I do but I know what results I have gotten and seen before. I had some vinyl silk emulsion left and used that. Maybe its not the standard use for it but I had seen the...

    Painting a new door.

I don't see whats wrong with Silk on primed doors? It gives a durable white sheen and looks good. The mould was very old and had stained the artex ceiling. I attempted to sand it off but i'd of been old and grey by the time it was off. It was more to cover the stains with a skin than to halt...

    Painting a new door.

I've just installed similar doors but they came primed. My dad said to use white silk paint and it has given a great finish. I had painted the door frames gloss white about 6 months ago and once the doors had been painted the frames looked manky yellow. So I then had to sand and paint...
