13A supply spurred off 32A socket?

I'm just running the cable, ready for electrician friend to make the connections and sign it off. To clarify, I've got a 2.5mm circuit supplying all the power in the kitchen (except for the ovens), part of which is a single outlet for the extractor fan - this may not need 32A, but that's what...

13A supply spurred off 32A socket?

Right, time for my second electrical question of the day.. I'm wiring up my new extension for a kitchen and I need to put in a 13A supply for a gas hob - I've placed a 32A socket for an extractor hood as part of my general power circuit and it's the nearest source to where I'll need to place...

Is this right for domestic oven supply?

Fantastic, thanks. The only reason I'd suggested 2 cooker switches is because I've not seen 45A cooker switches. Do you know where I can get those and the 2G Cooker Outlets from? I've not seen them at Screwfix. And yes, I'm having a gas hob - I'm presuming they don't usually require a...

Is this right for domestic oven supply?

Hi, I was just wondering if you knowledgable folks would be able to check that what I'm planning to do for my oven supplies is correct... I'm fitting 2x3.5kw ovens side-by-side and am planning to supply them as follows; 40A MCB > 6mm twin and earth > 20A cooker switch > oven connector &...

    How can I rectify this?!

Thanks for all your help on this - it seemed that most places didn't want to cut the doors down anyway and that the doors I've got have a unique extrusion profile anyway which nobody has the tooling for. So, I've put them on eBay and it looks like I should make my money back anyway. Going to...

    How can I rectify this?!

Thanks that's helpful. It's a good job I've managed to retain my sense of humour at this soul-destroying time.

    How can I rectify this?!

Hi, Haven't been on here for a while (mainly because I've been busy). This may be better posted in the DIY Disasters forum, but I'm hoping you experienced chaps might be able to help me find a solution. Basically I've dropped a massive *******, by building the structural opening for my...

Marley Eternit Thrutone CF Roof Tiles

Hi All, Not been on here for a while, been cracking on with the house refurb and I'm about to start tiling the roof of the extension. I've got these tiles, laying on a monopitch roof at 17 degrees. The roof has had monaperm fixed to the rafters and batten fixed at 250mm centres. A...

What underlay for a shallow roof pitch?

Thanks, I thought it was a bit strange. I'm trying to calculate how much lath to buy too - what's the spacing that I should use, or does that depend on the pitch?

What underlay for a shallow roof pitch?

Hi All, Finally got the roof structure finished and I'm ready to start felting, lathing and tiling. My pitch is quite shallow at 15 degrees and I did read somewhere that you should use a 1F underlay with shallow pitches, rather than a breathable membrane. If this is the case, does that...

    Building a Soak away

Well it does eventually soak into the ground, but it takes a day or so. I just thought that by digging a soak away it would give somewhere for the water to hold whilst it soaks away. I will be building raised decking over the area that floods (and the soak away) next summer.

    Building a Soak away

Hi, I'm about to start building a soak away at the bottom of my garden because; A) my garden keeps flooding when it rains (clay soil) and takes a day or two to clear B) I'm building an extension which BC will likely say needs surface water to drain to a soak away I just wanted to run...

Fresh paint peeling off like paper

It's 1937 - I think there's something on the plaster, it's a yellowwy colour and some grey patches underneath. It's got a plasterboard ceiling however so I assume it's been re plastered at some point.

Fresh paint peeling off like paper

Hi, I'm redecorating an old room and having trouble with painting the ceiling. I've stripped wallpaper off the ceiling (probably 1970's) and painted a primer coat (50/50 emulsion and PVA). When I've done the second coat, the base coat is peeling off like soggy paper and exposing the...

    New radiator - can't remove vent/valve plugs!!

Thanks both, ended up driving a pair of pliers through the cap to remove it. Is this how most threads are protected on radiators when they're painted? I've rebuilt a few motorbikes in the past and protected threads with rubber caps or bungs when they've been powder coated. Never had that...

    New radiator - can't remove vent/valve plugs!!

Hi All, Just after some quick help please. I've hung a new radiator on the wall and it's got some plastic plugs in the connection points for the valves. They look like they've been powder coated over and when I try to undo them with a screwdriver, they're just rounding off. Does anyone...

Fixing a heavy radiator to D&D wall

I've got a large heavy rediator (2000x600 double panel) to fix to a wall which has been dot & dab plasterboarded. What sort of fixings should I use? If I can locate a dab, would a the usual method ow screw/wall plug be suitable? Thanks in advance.

    Push fit fittings leaking everywhere!!

Actually, it was pipe lubricant - I was just generalising. I've decided to fit my radiators and test the system another couple of times before I cover everything over - but basically if it's ok now; I don't see why any failure would be delayed in emerging given that the whole system has been...

    Push fit fittings leaking everywhere!!

Ok, so I re-did all of my plastic onto copper connections again, this time using a dedicated plastic pipe cutter and tidying up my copper pipe with wire wool. I also used some grease to ease the pipes into the fittings to prevent any seals getting snagged and there are now no leaks. I suspect...
