    imho if your going to have the weight of the board and plaster on it id be putting noggings right across the room not just on the perimiter. Im no expert on this,this is just an opinion but im sure one of the the guys will be able to tell you properly soon.

    trowing mastic is a pain,i always try to avoid it by using cement dye and going that way about it if the cutomer agrees. put the linseed oil on a cloth and work it on brick and mastic,dont put it on with a brush as it can make a right mess.
