    New Boiler install

Yes Tony, I am a Broadcast Radio Engineer. However, that Polyskop is a bit before my time ;-) But we do still have some stuff hanging around that scares the life out of me. As for those OB extendable masts....................Wow. I'm definitely not that old.

    New Boiler install

Hi Tony, I'm embarrassed to say that in the end, I just went with whatever the plumber suggested, even after all the great advise on here....sorry. Buying a boiler for the layman is a minefield. But I have to say, I love all the arguments about who can strip what the fastest and who's gaskets...

    Tiling on plasterboard

Of course. I never thought of that. Cheers. I'll bear it in mind in future. Gerald - Ignore my PVA advice !!! Just use "Pink Grip" instead !!!! It will be far cheaper than tile primer and tile adhesive.

    Tiling on plasterboard

I never knew that !! I just PVA'd my concrete floor in my kitchen and retiled it !!! Why is it not suitable ? What would you suggest instead of PVA ? Remember, the chap is only tiling ONE row of tiles.

    Vitrex LASH spacers/levellers.

I have 150 wedges and about the same clips (maybe more, I haven't counted em). They are left over from a job, if anyone wants them drop me a PM and we'll sort out a deal.

    Tiling on plasterboard

Hi Richard. I'm not a tiler, but have done plenty of DIY. Yes, I would prime the area with PVA. the reason being that plasterboard is very porous and will suck the moisture straight out of your adhesive. The alternative is to use a grab adhesive, rather than tile adhesive. I have used 'Pink...

    Plum coloured grout ?

Does it go on the same as 'normal' grout ? And more importantly, does it clean off, like normal grout, or is it a bit more difficult to use ? I was also concerned that I would have a pretty limited window to use it, before it starts going off and the fact that I won't be able to mix a small...

    Plum coloured grout ?

Thanks mate. I ordered the tiles today and bought the stuff from the same place. It is described as "Epoxy flexible joint". The sales girl explained it is an epoxy product, using a hardener ?? Never heard of it before, but she swore by it and at £36 for 2.5kg, it aint cheap either, so it...

    Urine stains.

Cut away the old pi55 stained stuff and get some sealant remover. It will turn what's left hard and you can just scrape it off. Good luck. Personally, I would explain how to do it to my mate and let him crack on !!!

Is it ok to tile over this?

Also, be careful with those old tiles, they might contain asbestos.

Gap around socket - Please help me

To be fair anyone with an ounce of common sense, a drill and a rawl plug could move the backplate up a touch. You shouldn't need to hire an electrician for that !! It's just a couple of screws, take those out and drill a couple of new ones a bit higher up, obviously you will have to drill...

average rate for good tiler in outer London

WOW - £186 per m2. That is pure crazy. I don't live in Londonia, thank god. I was quoted £30 per m2 by the local tile shop to do 20m2. If I was quoted £40 I would have been happy, but any more and I would have baulked !! Is there a whole lot of prep work to do ?
