    Resilient bars - right solution?

Oh. I've ordered the bars already :/ Using them looks simple to me - but I guess I'll find out! I'm planning to use a board lifter, thanks mcluma. Adam

    Resilient bars - right solution?

No, except the palava. The joists aren't parallel either, so the whole thing would quickly deteriorate into a big jigsaw, with a lot of wastage.

What type of ceiling construction do I have?

Magnetic lines could be lines of fixings attaching the ceiling to the joists?

    Resilient bars - right solution?

Hi All, I've just ripped the old lath and plaster ceiling down in our living room (bedrooms above) and am now trying to work out what to replace it with. I'll get a plasterer to skim it. I've already ordered sufficient 12.5mm board for a single layer but am thinking about using resilient bars...

    Slug electric fence

Well, it's not a copper "track" exactly - just a single thick band of copper tape around the bed. The snails climb up to it and then recoil when they touch it. I don't understand what you mean about the copper getting tarnished (that doesn't make any difference) or about the slime going across...

    Slug electric fence

Have you tried copper tape? I use that and it works well (so long as I can keep the plants from bridging over the gap). No need for battery etc then.

    Grouting "natural" limestone floor tiles

Thanks, I've sealed the tiles already, but was just wondering if there were any tips on how best to deal with the irregular surface - but I guess it's just going to be much more tedious that the "wipe on, wipe off"-type process for smooth tiles! Adam

    Tile Adhesive for 300mmx400mm tiles

The Topps Tiles adhesive prices are a joke. Just buy it online for half the price, including delivery. Or Webber or Mapei equivalents. Adam

    Grouting "natural" limestone floor tiles

Hi All, I've laid some 60x40 limestone floor tiles and need to do the grouting now. However, the tiles have groves, indentations and "features" in them which won't look good with grout in them. What's the best way to avoid filling all the spaces with grout? Here's a piccy, though it's hard to...

Laying large slate slabs - adhesive depth

Hi All, I've got a couple of large (1.8m x 0.6m x 30mm) honed slate slabs to lay on a latexed concrete constructional hearth. My question is: what depth adhesive should I use for these enormous slabs? I've got a 10mm slotted trowel from laying large format limestone tiles. Is that OK, or...

    Damp problem - please HELP!

Surely that injection job is a disaster? The chemical is supposed to go into the mortar bed, not the brickwork. Adam

Hi All, I'm in the process of putting some new limestone tiles down in our kitchen, on top of the existing floor (quarry tiles). Where the kitchen meets the living room I need to find a way of finishing the tile edge, given the difference in height. Does anyone have any suggestions for what...
