A couple of questions re WASTE DISPOSAL UNIT

Sorry to monpolise the Appliance section but I have anither question re WDUs. On the Screwfix website they advertise remote controls for about £16 that can be ordered with the WDU. Are these worth having or just a gimmick? Thanks. Katie :)

A couple of questions re WASTE DISPOSAL UNIT

Thanks, Diy. Just one thing I forgot. My mum tells me that when she had her WDU installed the plumber had to cut out a big hole in the sink in order that it woud fit. I forgot about this bit. How's it done?

A couple of questions re WASTE DISPOSAL UNIT

Sorry about the misleading subject title (thanks Mr Moderator :) ). It's just that I want to avoid the problems of a future blockage if I can. I think we also have to have the hole in the sink made larger to fit the WDU. Just one other thing, if you have a dishwasher should it be connected...

A couple of questions re WASTE DISPOSAL UNIT

I have been having a look at the waste disposal units on Screwfix. These are all manufactured by Watemaid. Are they any good? Watermaid that is, not Screwfix. :) Also, a friend who has a WDU was told by the plumber who installed it that it was necessary to have a back inlet gully in her...

How to remove spillage from CH rad off white plastic chair?

Well, having tried the Cif and a little lemon disinfectant we haven't really been sable to shift the stains. As for Tony's suggestion re the citrus acid crystals we simply have not been able to find any local source. As an alternative option is there any paint on the market that would be...

How to remove spillage from CH rad off white plastic chair?

At the weekend we removed a blocked radiator from the wall and flushed it out in the garden. Unfortunately we managed to spill some of its contents - horrible black liquid - onto a kitchen chair which has a white metal frame with two white plastic panels for back and seat. These are now quite...

    Leaking WM standpipe trap.

I have a bit of a leak on the trap of a washing-machine standpipe. The nut (the one in the middle) cannot be tightened any further and the whole pipe is rather difficult to remove as it is positioned behind quite a lot of other pipework. Would it be acceptable to put some solution onto this...

Moving sink next to hob to accomodate dishwashwer.

Not sure if I should be asking this question in this section. I want to instal a dishwasher next to a washing mchine. The only way that this can be achieved is by moving the sink by 25cms. This would leave the bowl part of the sink very close to the (gas) hob. Would this be legal or does it...

    Illegal connection to soil pipe?

My aunt wants to have a washbasin installed in a small WC room on the first floor of her flat and has called a plumber in to give her a price for the job. The existing pipe for the loo runs through the exterior wall and connects to (what the plumber calls) a branch soil pipe that runs...

Thanks, Breezer...I shall load both of those as well as AD-Aware and Spybot which always seem good. Windows Defender I am less sure about as well as the Windows Firewall...unless anyone knows different of course?

Problems loading files into new laptop.

The files are getting loaded onto the hard drive successfully but I think I lacked a bit of clarity using the word load twice: Anyway all is well as I got through to Dell early this morning and the guy recommended deleting the pre-installed Mcafee stuff. You might ask why have it installed...

Problems loading files into new laptop.

I have just bought a new laptop (running under XP media centre) to replace my desktop that had expired. I have got so far as loading all my important files from a memory stick on to the hard drive. Trouble is it takes ages to load these files in the conventional way. What I mean here is to load...

Silicone on bath waste and overflow?

Yippeee! The silicone has worked. :D No more leaks. Thanks for all your help, guys. Didn't mean to provoke any issues, honest. My dad says a plumber without an argument is like Patrick Moore without his monocle! Ha ha, no offence.

Silicone on bath waste and overflow?

Well I hope things pick up soon, Nige. B*gg*r. The waste, the overflow banjo thingy and trap were all fine but it seems that water is dripping from the plastic nut that tightens the whole thing. I thought we siliconed that as well but apparently not. Liz, my mate, has taken the whole...

Silicone on bath waste and overflow?

Thanks for the advice guys. In the end we did it using silicone and have left it overnight to cure as advised. My friend will test it in the morning. In the process I went down to the Plumber’s merchants to buy the trap and received a bit of an interrogation from the guy (old) in the shop...
