Replacing fan element - only one wire - urgent help please!

Yes. One is fine but the other has worn away - probably this caused or was a cause of the problem with the element. I was thinking of going to a DIY shop to get one. Hopefully they are easy to put on. Husband and I pleased with ourselves to have got the oven out and taken it apart as much as we...

Replacing fan element - only one wire - urgent help please!

Thanks! Have now got the oven out. And found that one of the wires that connects to the oven has a burnt out connector. Not sure what the connector is called but I need to get a new one - and also get this one off! Can you help?

Replacing fan element - only one wire - urgent help please!

There are two screws at the bottom, one on each side. But at the top there are just two small round plastic circles. I thought these might be some sort of screw covers but they don't come off. Could it be that there are only two screws at the bottom? Thanks

Replacing fan element - only one wire - urgent help please!

Thanks for your instant reply. How do we get the oven out? There is an in-built microwave on top of the oven. Is this going to be possible or do we need special tools? There are two of us here. Thanks.

Replacing fan element - only one wire - urgent help please!

Hi, We are literally right in the middle of replacing our fan oven element for the first time, trying to follow instructions from You Tube. Got the back panel off but only one wire is attached to the element. Does this mean one has disappeared behind the oven or do we just attach it to the...

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

Thanks. Maybe we could try things as they are and then if ventilation seems a problem, we could use this. At the moment the promised plumber has not been in touch to come and see the room - so the project is rather tantalisingly on hold. One is probably not meant to promote anyone on here...

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

The ceiling can be broken into from the room, but not from above, which someone told me I would need to do to change the wiring. If this is not the case, then we could do it. But it seems a lot of trouble. Would think it is probably easier to just put the fan on occasionally. Above the room...

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

Sussex - at a festival. Should be great, apart from being concerned about a 12 year old who does not want to come!

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

I am so touched by all your helpful comments. It does seem that all can be left. But as someone said, it would actually be good if the fan switch could be connected to the light switch. Is anyone able to tell me roughly how much an electrician might charge to do this? The fan is on the...

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

Hi, actually no walls are coming down - we are just extending the room by taking the door out, putting up a new wall about a metre away into the hall, and putting the old door in there, so there will be a sort of arch leading into the room. The old wall, which is the main wall of the original...

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

I will ask the plumber is he can self-certify compliance with the Building Regulations, although I do not really know what this means. Do I just take his word for it if he says yes, or should he have a certificate to give or show me? There will be no underground drainage as the pipe will go...

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

Hi, Thanks for the speedy reply. The position of the switch is fine as it is just inside the door. Good news about not having to move it. As far as I can see, we won't need to do anything electrical if we don't have to move the switch or have it connected to the fan. So much for the builder...

Downstairs cloakroom - urgent lighting questions

Hi, We are going to install a toilet and sink into our utility room, which already has a sink. I have been given mixed messages from builders and hope someone here can give me the correct answers. 1. Do we need to apply for permission? - cloakroom only, no shower or bath. 2. At present the...
