    Intergas WeatherComp sensor

Evening all, Wondered if anyone with experience of installing Intergas’ weather sensor can explain where it’s meant to be installed? I’m talking about this https://theintergasshop.co.uk/intergas-accessories/230-intergas-outside-sensor-203207.html Installer seemed to think it should go on a...

Is this true then, that Intergas are quite tolerant to water quality?

    New boiler required...but which one?!

I've just replaced an ageing Glowworm 30CXi with an Intergas Xclusive 36. As per most customers, I was looking for the "right" balance of cost, performance, efficiency, on-going maintenance, etc. I retained the existing Hive wireless thermostat and was talked out of installing the WeatherComp...

    Intergas & Chemicals

Thanks Ian - I’d forgotten 800 is the fast acting stuff. Not used it in anger actually, just the 400 as I don’t have to worry about getting it out. Suspect I’m getting mixed up with another - there’s a 300 too isn’t there, for new systems.

Really?! How come? I’ve lost calibration on sarcasm levels in this thread now!

    Intergas & Chemicals

Thanks - suspected that might be the case based on what I'd read and imagining how they must be constructed but couldn't find anything to confirm. With that in mind, I guess it doesn't matter which product I use.

    Intergas & Chemicals

Quick one, are there any considerations around which chemicals to use with a new Intergas system in terms of its Alu/copper heat-exchanger? Its plumbed into a relatively new system comprising all steel radiators and a mixture of copper and plastic piping. Just want to be sure if/when I do...

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

Quick update - boiler is going in as I type this. So far so good, except installer really doesn't want to install the WeatherComp sensor. Apparently he's spoken to Intergas technical who have advised him against it, as "sometimes the heating just won't work". Struggling with this but defer to...

    Current recommended filters

How does that work? Surely you have to open something to get the gunk out?

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

I believe that is the gap learning thermostats fill - whilst they don't have the defined U-value, they can determine a measure that roughly equates it by measuring how a room/house heats up based on internal/external temp's and heat rise over time. Whether using specific u-value or real-world...

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

For me, I see these as two elements for the boilers overall control/feedback system - I'd expect (assume through lack of knowledge!) that the boiler will modulate its gas-flow/burn rate/whatever is the measure, to achieve a target flow temp; in turn that target flow temp will be managed...

    Current recommended filters

How come? Surely there must be some benefit to them? I’m trying to get ahead of the warranty conditions of a new boiler and do all I can to keep the system clean.

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

I'm not going down this rabbit hole, save to say that I've been consistently disappointed at the apparent lack of knowledge of/interest in controls from the 6 engineers who have quoted for work so far. Feels like I know more (probably not of course!!) from Google - think I've just defined the...

    Current recommended filters

All, About to have the new boiler fitted (Intergas Xclusive 36.) Installer is happy to leave the existing Spirotrap filter in place, or swap it if that's what I really want. Should I be moving to something newer/better or will the Spirotrap still be good enough? I don't want to spend money...

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

Thanks for all the further inputs to this - I’ll reply to them all when at a proper computer as have lots to digest and no doubt more questions... For now I’m coming to the conclusion there’s no point changing controls right now - I’ll save the few hundred quid and stick with the Hive and see...

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

And am I right to think I can get one of the Honeywell T6 ‘stats and use it wirelessly, ie I don’t have to run cable from the ‘stat to the boiler, as a direct replacement for my current Hive?

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

Thanks for the reply. I’ve now had quotes from both Intergas and Viessmann installers (plus a couple of others) who both recommended sticking with the Hive and didn’t seem very enthusiastic about OpenTherm and WeatherComp. General consensus is to just stick with the Hive. (Also, Intergas was...

New combi - do I need weather comp or stick with Hive?

Likely going to have a new combi (Viessman or Intergas current forerunners) installed in the coming weeks to replace the existing Glowwom 30cxi which is getting like triggers broom. Currently our heating is controlled by a Hive 'stat with TRV's on all radiators (and no wiring for a hard-wired...

    Corner plot, party wall/boundary & neighbour's extension

Hi, I'll try to keep this brief but as with many similar issues, that may be difficult... My father-in-law recently died and we are going through the usual of sorting out his estate. His house is the last house on his street, and as such sits facing the main road (yellow arrow) rather than in...
