extractor fan with timer - wiring

i am replacing an existing extractor fan with one with a timer. The current unit is wired using twin and earth, as it doesn't have a run-on timer, and hence doesn't need the unswitched live feed. My question is this - the new extractor is double insulated with no earth required. is it therefore...

shower tray squeaking against tanking membrane?

I'm after some advice on how to stop my new shower tray squeaking against the tanking membrane on the walls?? i've not fixed the shower tray yet, but when I had a "dry-run", there was a lot of sqeaking between the shiny gelcoat of the shower tray and the rubbery tanking on the walls. Are...

shower pump flange options for male thread on cylinder?

well, is that another twist? do i need a special 'tapered' olive?? or should a regular one do? I was banking on just putting a regular 22nn olive on there and doing it up! Thanks for all the comments so far.

shower pump flange options for male thread on cylinder?

DH, Thanks for the comments, most of which i've got covered. The one that i've sort of neglected is the feed levels from the cold water tanks. They're both at a similar level, as that's where the flatest bit of the tank is to connect a fitting. Basically the cold water feed to the cylinder...

shower pump flange options for male thread on cylinder?

thanks dreadnaught, yup, it's a male thread. I undid the top 'nut' earlier when I had the cold tanks emptied, and it looked essentially like a compression fitting - male thread on the tank, and a nut on the top. i'm looking to fit a decent pump... something like a 2bar monsoon universal...

shower pump flange options for male thread on cylinder?

Hi. Before I go ordering, does anyone know of any other top entry flange options other than the danzey flange or york flange for a 1" BSP male thread on the top of a hot water cylinder? http://www.bes.co.uk/products/104.asp What's the difference between the two? ideally i would have the...

    Tanking shower cubicle?

Hi It's been pointed out in a previous thread that I should be tanking the plasterboard in my bathroom before I tile, for use as a shower cubicle. The area was previously a shower, over the bath, but just tiled onto plaster as far as i can tell. It's going in an alcove, with two sides...

H&C Bar Valve Fixing Kit - am i missing something here..

right oh - at the risk of looking like a stupid diyer- i'd not intended to tank the walls... last time i tiled a shower cubicle i was advised (by the guy in the tile shop) to use waterproof tile adhesive in a solid bed, which I guess does the same sort of thing? I would really appreciate your...

H&C Bar Valve Fixing Kit - am i missing something here..

the wall is just blockwork at the moment, and I'll be bringing the pipe down the wall from the loft. i need to batten out and fix a wall in front of the pipework, but i would need to put a couple of elbows on the bottom to come out through the wall to use the fittings that have been suggested...

H&C Bar Valve Fixing Kit - am i missing something here..

H&C Bar Valve Fixing Kit - am i missing something here..

Hi I've just picked up and proprietary H&C Bar Valve Fixing Kit from Screwfix on the understanding that it would make the installation of my new shower somewhat easier. I was not convinced by the robustness/rigidity of the Mira way of doing it. On the face of it, this fixing kit is a much...

bending speedfit pipe?? new to plastic plumbing...

I'm about to embark on my first speedfit plumbing task, having always used endfeed copper before... Anyway, I would appreciate some advice on how to bend the stuff? Can you permanently deform it like copper? or does it spring back? I've seen guidance saying you can bend it with a pipe...

recommend a shower pump for two mixer showers?

Hi Would anybody be able to recommend a shower pump to run two standard mixer showers (although initially only one will be installed)? ideally i'd put the pump in the loft next to the water tanks. How do you stop the pumps from freezing? or should i be putting the pump in the airing...

to replace boiler with combi or not?

Thanks for the replies. Flow rate at the standard mains tap in garage is about 17-18l/min.(the ones in the kitchen etc are monobloc flow regulated) The cold water tanks hold about 220 litres. the bottom of the tanks is about 0.8m above the shower head level, with top water level at about...
