    electrical earth to kitchen

Hi Chaps, advice apreciated. We have recently had an extension done to my daughters property. Amongst other thing the old kitchen has now become a dining room and a new kitchen added. Stopcock, and mains infeed water moved 3 metres. The old earth to the cold feed which I assume ran...

    New Oak Worktop

I would be very inclined to invest in a few stainless screws to fix the worktop, mild steel or failed platedted screw will turn oak black, and that can come through from below.

    Joints in Kitchen worktop

Previous kitchens I've let the supplier of the worktops cut the worktop joints and I have assembled these. About to start a kitchen for my daughter and don't have that option. So I have bought a jig, have the correct cutters, have a 1/2 and 1/4" router and I think I have the 30mm guide plate...

    Thermostat valves

Fair enough. Just extended the system after an extension and the radiator I moved and carried on from had the TRV on the return, I assumed it was correctly installed on the flow. Will wait and see if theres a problem before the floor gets finished as all the three I fitted were bi directional.

    Thermostat valves

Ok, some valves are cast directional, some recnt ones seem to be bi-flow. From my recollection, the TRV should always be in the flow line. What is the effect on both types if this is reversed? Cheers. :?: :?:

    Extraction/ventilation for new kitchen

I actually used one of those in a previous bathroom project, mounted in mid duct in the loft. It certainly was noisey. Most of the units I've looked at are about 40 dba so shouldn't be an issue, cheers

    Extraction/ventilation for new kitchen

They certainley aren't. Plan is to install either 1 or 2 60 ltr'sec units drawing from upper units via soffit type vents in the cabinet top, ie drawing through the cabinet and out of the wall. My daughterm her project is specific in that she does not want these visible. We have...

    Extraction/ventilation for new kitchen

Under buiding regs is there a certain requirement for forced extraction or can the opening windows cover this?. The hob will be on and island unit under a vaulted ceiling so an extractor hood or ceing extrator is not an option. I have several alternative ideas but just want to check on the...

    Garage door long shot

Sorry Guys I didn't get the reminders so missed these posts however to update. We had bought the repair parts for the door, a Mk3c. However when the bits and info arrived the big read print said if your have the early version of the door, possibly 40 years old now, do not try to repair it...

    Gliderol roller garage door.

Anyone used/fitted one of these.?? Slightly apprehensive as the door seems to be just a corrugated single piece of steel or ally that flexes around the roller when lifted, rather than one with articulated joints, if you get my drift. 10 year guarantee on mechanicals but I'm not sure.

    Painting A house

    Garage door long shot

Hi, as above; I am trying to repair a garage door for an elderly relative, as in little money. It is a garador Mk111C door but with the early none plastic covered spring box. I have all the parts to repair, springs, pulleys and cables, but the info downloaded about this type of door states...

Building Regs passed....but hard to believe.

Yeah I understand that now, and can't help regarding addressing building control, but it would help an awfull lot if the op could give some idea of what he/she/others think is wrong with the conversion, obvious;ly the restructuring of the roof would have been covered in detail in the consent...

Building Regs passed....but hard to believe.

Reading it again you simply have a disclaimer from the homepack outfit that they were not able to inspect the superstructure of the roof. However what should have been provided to them was a completion cert by the local authorities stating the work was done to building reg standard. These...
