Thanks, tried that, everything normal but when I looked on the underside, I can see little bubbles forming and dropping. Could there be a minute crack in the cistern? I have looked but it's difficult to see when it's full of water.

I noticed the carpet was damp behing the plastic (quite old) cistern so I ran my fingers underneath the cistern flush to the wall and it was wet. Quiite how it leaks from there is difficult to work out as there are no connections there. Any ideas please? Thanks.

I have had this coffee maker for some years now, and I have noticed that the black insulation on the hotplate is starting to break up and show the bare metal and will get worse as time goes on. Is it still safe to use, or should I be looking to replace it.

Thank you. No, my bathroom socket does not have a toothbrush sign on it. Why would that make a difference. And when I said "a normal 2 pin plug", I meant the two pin plugs that we used to use and wihich are attached to shavers. I think I'll just buy a new toothbrush! :(

You beat me to it. Of course, I charge it from a shaver socket so i can't use a three pin plug.

It will be replaced by a normal two pin plug obviously not a moulded one

The moulded two pin plug attached to my toothbrush is failing as I have to jiggle the wire to get the charging light to work. is it safe to cut off the plug separate the wires and then attach a normal two pin plug on to it?

What is the best thing to use to lubricate my rubber seals as they are sticking when I open the windows? Thank you.

I have a small cabinet in my kitchen which opens upward and is held in place by a gas strut hinge. This hinge has failed and the door won't stay up. Is there any problem in replacing it, or is it just a queation of unscrewing the screws that hold it to the door, and fitting a new one. Never...

It's a Virgin V+ Box which records onto a hard drive, but I've just tried to record with the TV switched off and it works, so the Tv doesn't have to be plugged in at all. Thanks for your help :)

Sorry, I thought that the tv needed to plugged in the mains to records from the box. I see for your reply, it doesn't need to be. Sorry :oops:

If it really is 'switched off', the risk is incredibly small - but given that you seem to plan to unplug virtually everything else, why not also the TV - is there an access problem? Because of the recordings?
