    modifying a greenhouse

    hi folks, A friend has just moved into a house that and has a 12ft x 6ft aluminium lean-to that he wants to get rid off. Now, I wouldn't mind having it and putting it in my garden, but I won't be able to have it as a lean-to. I'd like to put it along the garden fence, but not have the fence...

    how many hinges on a door?

    might seem like a pointless question, but I've noticed that hinges are usually sold in 3's. I'm replacing white moulded doors (2 hinges) with oak veneered (hardwood core) with glass panels. These are heavier than the old ones, so should I use 3 hinges? I'm also considering using self closing...

    best door closer - which kind/method

    it's not a fire door. Don't really mind the door not being able to latch - just don't like it being left wide open all the time :x

    best door closer - which kind/method

    I recently came across a door that was fitted with raised butt hinges and they do work well. The door is closed gently and there are no chains or other contraptions to bite your fingers. Only thing is they look a bit fiddly to fit.

    best door closer - which kind/method

    I agree that fitting and adjusting the perko variety can be a pain. Only recently come across spring hinges http://www.topclasscarpentry.com/product/57704/ not sure what they are like. Anyone had experience of them?

    best door closer - which kind/method

    hi folks, what's the best thing for closing a door? I have had the perko kind with a chain in the past, but am now changing doors and am looking at other possibilities. I've come across raised butt hinges and springed hinges as alternatives. What are the pros/cons of the different types? purely...

    using grass as mulch

    it will have to be thin to start off with, as now I am mowing more often I'm getting less clippings. Anything I can do to reduce the smell? How do you use it around the allotment? I presume you put it around your crops. Does that much nitrogen do them good, or do you mulch to conserve...

    using grass as mulch

    I've got a border with various shrubs and a few vegatables growing. Thing is I have no bark chippings etc or anything else that will supress weeds and possibly add some nutrition. Not wishing to go to the expense (2 long borders) or hassle of wheeling barrows around/through the house just yet, I...

    can moulded glass door width be cut?

    hi, I'm after a couple of white moulded doors and saw some at a reduced price (75% off) but they are too wide. I need a 30" and these are 33". It has nine clear glass sections in the top half which have chrome strips holding them in. I was wondering if it was possible to cut off 1.5" from each...

    blum internal drawers

    Hi, I'm after some internal drawers for my 500 units, but don't quite know what to order and how to fit them. I'm after the blum tandembox variety, but have come across 2 types - one says they are full width of the cabinet and need a different kind of door hinge. The other says it is full width...

    what kind of paint is it?

    I want to repaint my white kitchen ceiling, but am not sure what kind of paint is on it at the moment. It looks like emulsion with a soft sheen to it. Don't know if it's just old vinyl or silk that has lost it's shine over time, or something else. Is there a white paint that I can cover it...

    edging laminate worktop strip

    Hi, chosen a laminate worktop and need to order an edging strip to go with with it. Been looking around and have come across two that match the worktop - one is HPL (laminate) and the other is PP (polypropylene.) Anyone know which is the better one to go for? Which would give the better finish...

    warranty on new ebay items

    decided to ask neff and this is what they came back with So, if I understand them correctly, what they are saying is that unless there is a receipt from a recognised Neff retailer, they won't honour any warranty. I don't think there are many bona fide Neff retailers on ebay. Anyone ever...
