    Kitchen fluorescent light problems!

yes, the single tube is the right size. Do you think, the fault could be with the ballast? if the starter is correct spec, which I have to check.

    Kitchen fluorescent light problems!

Last time when changed the starter, when it had a similar problem, it worked for couple of weeks, and now it just lights up the two ends only. Then I tried another bulb but no success. Does starter have to be the right one for it to last for longer? This lasted for couple of weeks only.

Reliable combi boiler for a flat?

Someone told me it's not worth repairing, as the heat exchanger could be gone. It's 9 years old Modena 80E. I had to use reset button 3 times now to operate, otherwise it goes back to 'boiler lockout' light sign. The reset does the job for the day...until the next day. I have gas engineer...

Reliable combi boiler for a flat?

So no one can say how much roughly it would cost to purchase and to fit? Valliant and Worchester came out as the most reliable in Which Survey, surprised you guys are mentioning likes of Ferroli, which is not highly rated by users.

Reliable combi boiler for a flat?

My flat has a Ferroli Modena 80E combi boiler for the last 9 years but now has ‘boiler lock out’ light and start of each day have to reset to operate. So I take it it’s beyond economical repair? Now I am thinking to replace it with a reliable make and model. As I have never purchased a...

    Modena 80E Boiler lock out!

Thanks Dangas for your insight. I presume the ‘heat exchanger’ is very expensive to replace. I live in a block of flats, an ex-local authority unit. You mentioned ‘lower the circulating temp on the boiler itself for c/h’ does that I mean keep the temp low for central heating on the dial on...

    Modena 80E Boiler lock out!

Have this lock out light twice now, each time have to reset to enable it to work. Now getting worried as to how many days this will last, before it goes out. The combi boiler is about 8 years old. Does anyone know what the cause might be and how much roughly to remedy the situation. :|

    shower panel advice

The wife thinks we should just buy replacement of the existing wood covering, in whichcase the large cover in the photo, I think is the original council installed plasterboard, apart from the smaller side board, which I fitted a last week, made from plywood. So the whole box she wants to be...

    shower panel advice

I'm thinking something like this, is that ok from Wicks. Get rid of existing wooden covering and replace it with this. http://www.wickes.co.uk/aquapanel-water-resistant-backing-board/invt/220561/?source=123_4

    shower panel advice

[/url] Thanks for your reply. So I take that aquapanel can take the weight of the tiles and won't be flimsy. I had thought about putting aquapanel on top of existing wood panel and then tile over, but that may not be necessary?

    shower panel advice

Just want to understand this, so I remove the wood covering and use 'aquapanel' to cover the pipes and then tile over aquapanel, but how do you stick them on, the first place, on to the bare pipes? or do you keep the wood as it is and then apply aquapanel on and then use tiles on over them.

Do I need a circuit breaker for Electric shower?

Thanks 'sparkybird' for your reply. Wanted to know what type of breaker do I need that would go with this unit, can I get it from likes of B&Q and fit near the empty slot in RCD on the right handside? My electrian told me to get the parts and he would fit it.

    shower panel advice

Thanks for your reply. Never used aquapenel before, could consider them, are they reliable, I mean not leaking water. I have to leave the water isolators where they are, as it'll be very expensive to reinstall them elsewhere, thinking of a 'lid' that's easy to open and nice to look at.
