Whats the best way of removing floor tile grout so I can regrout?

Nice, thanks for the reply. I have the multi tool attachment courtesy of aldi recently so shall give it a go. I did try with a grout rake and it did remove quite alot but not enough to do a lasting repair. My only concern with the multi tool is that it could clip the edge of a floor tile and...

    Digging up pottery

Digging is boring. I usually have other jobs on the go at the same time so I can divide the digging up. Ive just been renovating my parents property slowly but surely the last 6years. Mainly fence post digging and the odd bit of drainage but occasionally a trench dig for underground power cables...

    Window Tinting

If the glass is curved you might need a hairdryer or heat gun to "stretch" the film. I would only have a go as a DIYer if you have a car with flat glass on the parts youd be tinting. Plenty of soapy suds using a plant sprayer bottle on the glass and the film. Use an old gym membership card...

    Loft Advice

It does seem a bit of a wide span doesnt it for joists. If you got the headroom you could cross hatch a new floor on top of the old floor also.

    Loft Advice

You could also add some type of noggins inbetween the 1450mm span prior to laying the boards. studwork timber should be fine for this.

    Loft Advice

You can get 22mm chipboard flooring exactly like loft boards but longer. They are still the same width as loft boards so you should be able to get them through the loft hatch. 2.6metres long if I recall correctly. Just lay them opposite direction to joists and offset the next board. It depends...

    Homemade paving slabs... recipe?

I have vibrated them with an old sheet sander in the past and theyve come out quite well. I just lost the post it note from last year which had the ratios for the correct mixture on it. I need to do about 8 more to complete my pathway :)

Putting down a patio. Advice needed.

Put the string line on loose bricks. Just wrap the string around a brick, make the string line taught and have another brick the other end of the string. As long as the two bricks are the same this will give you an indication of the level. You need to add a line level to the string first though.

Removal of flaking paint and rust from iron railings

Look into a descaler attachment for an air compressor. Good bit of kit and cheap but the compressor noise might annoy the neighbours. Put the compressor in the house and run the hose thru the letterbox. This tool will speed up the job no end.
