Repair Sash Window has shifted window frame help

I'm not sure what the wagtail is but the parting bead had to be replaced and he did have difficulty getting something suitable in place to keep the weights separate. I'll have to wait till the weekend to check around the outside but I have noticed on my other windows (ones which have not...

Hi, We have been having repairs to the sash window carried out and I have noticed that one of the frames or architrave around the frame has come away from the wall. I have put a photo below, what is the best way to repair it? Should I just use caulk in the gap created and what should I do...

    Rotten sill on sash window

Thank you I thought this would split opinion. I will probably give repairing it a go and check that the joiner offers some kind of guarantee in case it goes bad. What are the pitfalls of repairing so I can keep an eye out for them. Do they tend to go wrong in a similar way? Thanks

    Balancing a sash window

Thanks lets hope the cords aren't broken then I won't have to take the whole lot apart. If when I free the window from the paint and it turns out a cord is broken will the window just drop and if so is there a way to keep it up. I'm a bit nervous of freeing them from the paint work!

The position of the yellow lever hasn't changed since it has been working so I think it is engineer time. Thanks for all your help.

    Trouble re-igniting the boiler

I've just checked the yellow lever and it does not quite line up with the pipe, I tried to turn it but it is stuck and only moves to a position which is at right angles to the pipe. I'll post a pic up tomorrow, what does the yellow lever do?

    Trouble re-igniting the boiler

It is error code 01. :D I'm sure you are lovely, it's just that as it's a bank holiday I won't be able to call anyone till weds and the house feels surprisingly cold for June. Also no matter how good and nice they are it's still going to be more expensive than if I could fix it myself.

    Trouble re-igniting the boiler

Thanks for your replies. I re-pressurised the system to 1.5 bar and when you turn it off/reset the lights go out. The boiler is about 11 years old. I was hoping to avoid having to call out an engineer but that now looks likely, any idea on what could be wrong and the likely cost of fixing it?

    Trouble re-igniting the boiler

Hello I have been away for two weeks and turned our boiler off, it will now not re-ignite. It is a Vokera Linea 24, I have followed the instructions which is basically setting it to off/reset for 10 seconds and then turning it back on again. I have tried a couple of times with no luck...

painting water based satinwood over oil based gloss

I will try and get the best brush I can in my budget, I have used acrylic paint before and you do see the brush marks but it still looked good from a distance. The paint job on our skirting from previous occupants is not brilliant so as long as I can get a nice clean line between wall and...

painting water based satinwood over oil based gloss

I have had a look and i'm not sure if it's a bit too much to spend £15 + on a brush when i'm only doing a little bit of decorating. Do you know of which makes are more mid range? I don't mind spending a reasonable amount.

painting water based satinwood over oil based gloss

Where can you get purdy brushes from, I need to get painting asap and will only be able to get to the diy sheds as i'm at work during the day? I could only find either Harris or Hamilton brushes from them, any idea which ones would be best? Do you know what the correct prep is for painting...

Is it ok to paint over oil based gloss paint with water based satinwood, I have searched the net and am getting conflicting information. I have sanded the gloss paint to provide a key and take off some of the shine. Also can I just paint the satinwood straight over it or does it need a water...

Hi Apologies in advance for the long post. Since we moved in we have always had problems with the combi boiler but it has got much worse recently. I will start from the very beginning as that may give clues. When we first moved in the radiator in the 2nd bedroom was off, we turned it back...
