    Drilling into Victorian brick

I did have the hammer action on, one of the holes was going into red brick but the one of the others did have some grey dust coming out of it, I was worried that may have been the drill bit burning out!! The drill bit was a £4 Bosch one, I think it was TCT but can't fully remember.

    Drilling into Victorian brick

I was thinking I may have to buy one, but are there any tips if I don't have a spare £100 to buy a new drill. Is it better to drill fast or slow, use lots of pressure or don't etc? I don't want to burn out the drill bit. If I was to buy an SDS drill does anyone have advice on a good mid...

Hi, I have an exposed bath waste for a freestanding bath which is causing me a headache. The waste is on an angled side so has it's own unique pipe but this is about 20mm short when used with the rest of the plug & chain waste I have. Can you buy 25mm chrome straight connectors to extend...

    Exposed waste for freestanding bath

Thanks Simon, i'll try to find one at the right angle and will leave bending it as a last resort. I got the bath on ebay at a bargin price but it's just my luck that this was one of the few baths by the manufacture that has a unique downpipe, all the other baths can use the same kit but his one...

    Exposed waste for freestanding bath

it's not one specificly for that bath, most suppliers only seem to sell one type of exposed waste (as either plug or pop up) so there must be a way of adjusting it as not all freestanding baths will be the same.

Thanks for the advice I only bought the SDS drill bit as I was advised that was the correct type to use with a hammer drill by a chap in B&Q, 'll try taking it back and get a normal drill bit and see if that works better.

Fix gaps in newly laid wood floor

The gap between the floor and wall is about 10mm, I had put in cork expansion strips in the gap. Is there a specific tool that would be best to use as a lever? Also in future is a floating floor not a very good idea, when I decided on it the other other options were glue down, couldn't do as...
