    How to make elevation plans

Good call Nakajo but my search for the applications seems to come up empty on the "documents" bit each time (i.e there ARE no documents).....should they be on there if they were needed as i'm looking on my local district council site for Planning Applications ?

    How to make elevation plans

Hi all, I'm a home owner (not professional builder) and i need to create an elevation drawing for building planning so any advice on what to use to make this ? i.e can i simply draw it by hand or use something like Microsoft Visio or something ? Never had to do one before so not sure on how...

Both interesting and annoying....that states we DON'T need it as we fit that but then the senior building control officer for our concil area says that doesn't apply to us unless the roof is fully/mostly glazed which ours isn't ?

Just i case anyone else stumbles onto this post you DO need building control regardless of keeping the back door. That only relates to if you're keeping the roof substantially glazed as well as the walls which as we've said we're not as it'll be a solid roof. I checked this with the local...

    Cement Board Joins and Caulking

So i presume then the 2 electric sockets we'll run from the house to this will be fine as they will be covered by the main breaker in the house ? so overall it's just a case of "if it fell down then the main house would still function" kind of thinking then ?

    Cement Board Joins and Caulking

Hi all, Two questions for this...i'm putting Cement Fibre board as an external protection\clad onto a small building and as we can simply prime it and paint it (as opposed to putting a render or further cladding on it) i've never installed this stuff but looking at various instructions and...

Just one additional thing (as i'm not sure if this will also impact it) but i'm going to run a radiator and electrical sockets in there from the main house ? still exempt ?

lol...that's ok then, thanks for that.....it's odd that an exterior door should deem the building "safe and conforming" when we could have the same extension but with no door inbetween them ? you can see why people come unstuck in legallities like this.

    competent scheme

ah, wasn't aware of that and yes, we're keeping the external door in place between the house and this new room however we're putting a solid wall on one side and a wooden roof with a rubber covering (so full solid wall on one side and then re-using the full height windows and doors from the old...

    best tool to cut Fascia

Thanks all and yes, the point of me asking was that it's over 5m so a hand saw would defeat the purpose

    best tool to cut Fascia

    best tool to cut Fascia

Hi all, I just wanting some advise on cutting Fascia boards which sound like simple thing to answer but my concern is that i only need to cut about 10mm off a 5m length (long-ways) so i'm just thinking about the best way to do this without scratching the fascia and also obviously getting a...

Plastic membrane under second osb roof

Plastic membrane under second osb roof

Hi all, Put a SIP roof on an outbuilding which has gone fine but i've also put some Waferhead screws in to fix the SIP panels down which i'm going to put a rubber roof on and the screws are slightly raised and i'm reluctant to further screw them in as they might rip the top OSB board and also...
