    Magic, many thanks for that

    Cement Fibre Panels

So one other thing is that most have put battens on to create an air gap (as you obviously would with cladding) but then some have fixed it direct to the wall with no gap ? we've got OSB so again it would go straight onto the membrane on the OSB and again there would be no gap...assuming that...

    Cement Fibre Panels

Hi all, We've built a wooden structure with a lot of windows (full height) and so there are essentially 2 corners/pillars and it's covered in OSB and then damp membrane so we were either planning on simple wooden siding (i.e shiplap sort or thing) or steel roofing sheets, both which we like but...

    Rubber roof over Flashband

Hi all, I've put a wooden roof on a room/building that joins a house wall. The room is 2.4.m high and onto a semi-detached house (i.e the roof butts up to the wall at 90 degrees) and due to a variation in the house wall i've found a 1cm gap between the room roof and the house wall. I'm not...

Sanity check for Flat Roof pitch

Sorry, but i thought it was between 1:40 and 1:80 so 1:50 "would" be ok wouldn't they ? The internet says go for a 1:80 to achieve a 1:40 ? http://rubberbond.co.uk/blog/the-minimum-slope-for-a-flat-roof/#:~:text=What%20is%20the%20most%20appropriate,the%20materials%20that%20they%20incorporate.

Sanity check for Flat Roof pitch

mmm...if we did it the short side...so over 3.6m what are we looking at for that ?

Sanity check for Flat Roof pitch

Hi all, Simple one but just wanted to check..putting on a flat EPDM roof over 5m, is 9cm at the high end ok for the pitch ? Thanks

    Breathable Membrane on the inside

Hi all, Not a problem but thought i'd check for curiosity..... i've put breathable membrane on the outside of a wooden building i'm putting up and as it'll be a few weeks until i put the roof on i've put membrane all around the inside as well just for added protection but when i get around to...

    Span calculation

Thanks tony1851, as long as it'll support the weight of me walking on it then that's most important and i'll think about the deflection, possibly put a false ceiling with soft insulation in to act as a sort of "buffer" for any bend on it but i'll have a think about that

    Span calculation

lol.... never surprises me how much there is too learn about things you always thought were simple :) So..... reading from what you've put i'm ok to use 100 x 100 C24 from the perspective of strength (i.e actually holding the weight) but we can't confirm what deflection (if any) there will be ?

    Span calculation

So i know i'm 15 stone and then SIP panels are 56KG (for the whole of the 1.2m x 3m SIP panel) so about 20kg per m2 and then i "think" about 2kg per m2 for the rubber roof ? The maximum deflection i'm not sure on. I know there is no deflection in the SIP panels themselves at 3m lengths so i...

    Span calculation

Hi all, I'm currently putting together a SIP panel room and due to an error on my part i've mis-calculated something. To try and keep this simple i've got 2 walls parallel with each other and the INSIDE gap is 3m (so including the 12cm thick wall on each side the total outside to outside is...

    Durabase conservatory base concrete pads

Plus the benefit that once all the kids have left home and we no longer need the space we can simply unbolt it and put the grass back over the pads (and sell the steel)...no need to have to remove all the concrete. I agree now that we've done it that the cost is about the same (and we did have...

    Durabase conservatory base concrete pads

I have checked with the manufacturer by the way and the base is fine for the weight of a SIP panel wall (5m long x 2.4m high) and then a SIP panel roof (5m x 3m) which is SOME weight so should be fine

    SIP Panel span length

Hi all, I've used SIP panels to build an extension and have come across a problem in my planning (obviously i'm NO professional) but to keep it simple...i've built the walls either side, so 5m in length protruding FROM the house 3m apart..all fine and the extension is 5m long by 3m wide and the...

    Water pooling on concrete

Hi all, I've just dug 5 concrete pad holes (450mm square) yesterday and found water standing on them at a depth of about 1 inch after i put the concrete in, i made a 1:8 mix for footings and 3 of the holes (after about an hour or so) seemed to dry out and looked ok so i expected the other 2 to...

    Durabase conservatory base concrete pads

Yes...no problem in putting the work in, i'll calculate what i'll need mix-wise and get a new wheelbarrow but better make sure i don't get one better than hers though :) Thanks for that
