Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

If I find the pump is seized onto the valve and I cause it to leak I'd curse myself as I'm not confident in being able to replace the valves or hold the pump steady whilst removing. Think I will text my gas engineer tomorrow - busy busy but he will show up

Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

Thanks Tony the pump arrow is pointing upwards I've only been in the house a month so I'm not sure what happened in the past. I do know they had a BG annual maintanence contract. The system was likely installed 8 years ago from new. I'm amazed the previous owners didn't raise it before...

Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

Perhaps the gas engineer could adjust the pipe work going out the top of the boiler There seems to be some room between the top and ceiling

Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

Yes thats right - it's the first one to get hot, return pipe being right on mine warms up after a few mins. I think it's the wrong way round for my boiler, hence the short cycling maybe?

Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

Thank you What about the boiler sensor on the return pipe that is currently my flow pipe - could it be causing the short cycling? By thinking the return is too hot? Would changing the pump around cure the air too?

Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

The pump is fitted on the middle floor, next to the hot water tank in the airing cupboard. Pipes coming through the floor so not sure how to tell. All's i can say is, pipes coming out the top of the boiler, left is hot first, pipe going into pump upstairs is also hot first, arrow...

Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

I added a bit to the end of my post perhaps just after you read it? The pump arrow is pointing away from the boiler, is this correct?

Think my flow & return are the wrong way round

My boiler seems to be short cycling and could possibly be due to air lock. I can hear trickling inside. The house is a 5 bed, 3 storey with an Ideal Classic FF380 on the ground floor with the megaflo and pump on the middle floor. With 20 rads i suppose it was assumed the pump needs to be on...

Ideal classic - Luke warm hot water tank

Moved house and now we have an ideal classic ff380 + megaflo 210L We have noticed some mornings the hot water is only luke warm. The hot water stat is set to 60c and timings are 20mins morning and 40mins evening when we normally take showers. In our old house this was sufficient for...

House takes ages to heat up

Are you sure it isn't using much gas? If my boiler was on that long my bills would easily be £180-£200 per month. I'm using about £130 of gas at the moment (in this cold weather) just to maintain 18-20c then it goes off at 22:30 Takes about 40-50 mins to reach temp then just maintains it.

    Ideal Classic FF380 - Behaviour

I thought pump problem so I checked spindle and it spins freely. When boiler stops the outlet pipe feels no where near the 77c it should be achieving before cut off. More like 40-45.

    Ideal Classic FF380 - Behaviour

Is it normal for this boiler to do the following CH thermostat requests heat - then sequence of events Boiler running time: 8mins Rest: 30sec Boiler running time: 5mins Rest: 40sec Boiler running time: 3mins Rest: 40sec - 1min Then Boiler running time: 2min Rest ...

Ideal Classic FF380 - couple of things

Little update Had my gas engineer round, service and replaced ignition. Boiler does seem to ignite pretty much every time now but i'm not sure if this cutting out is normal. Just looking for advice on that. Just a brief description. I checked the last rad in the system, it was full of...

Ideal Classic FF380 - couple of things

Thanks We do run the central heating 24/7 and usually all rads get not as expected. Interestingly I've just boosted for hot water. Boiler fired up for 5 mins and after 2 mins of switching off it fired briefly, clicked and turned off. Meanwhile pump is still going using residual heat...

Ideal Classic FF380 - couple of things

Hi just moved into a new house Ideal classic has been in for a few years, if not 8 years. Some strange behaviour, our old potterton was balanced flue, this is fan but we have noticed it shutting off after about 7-10mins for around 3 mins before lighting up again. Is this so it can regulate...

Anyone used NCS Flooring to supply?

I'm after some quickstep laminate and NCS Flooring are coming up cheapest for it I found them in google and haven't found any reviews. They seem to be cheapest by nearly 10%. They are based in Warwickshire so not like shipping overseas but lack of reviews putting me off. Wondered if they...

    Optima xl6 replacing battery problem

hello I've just replaced the battery as it was dead. I unplugged the battery and put the new one in and as soon as I connected the positive the bloody thing went off. Eventually after a power reset and reconnecting the battery the unit is on but not responding. All lights are lit apart...
