Can't get 'obtuse elbow' join to fit 22mm pipe!

Could you have been sold 3/4" fittings? These will be smaller (3/4" is just over 19mm) and so might cause the symtoms you describe? :?:

    Advice on Wall Fixing Brackets

As a suggestion, why not fix some lengths of threaded stud into the wall (you could adapt some rawlbolts), feed a length of tubing (pipe, conduit, wardrobe rail, etc.) over the threads to the length you want the sheet away from the wall, then a washer, the sheet and a dome-headed nut. Use one...

Can I remove my downstairs toilet?

A WC fitment consists only of a water pipe in and a soil pipe out (and maybe an overflow). If the bowl cracked you could easily replace it. The building reg. is not there for any safety or structural reason as I read it, so if I was you I would quietly remove the bowl and cistern, store it...

    Chinese tobacco

Actually, they'd (only) get 30 times more lead than usual. Still, people who buy this stuff are unlikely to be watching Panorama anyway.

    EPDM Fleeceback Rubberbond

I had mine done nearly 10 years ago. An attached single garage plus an area about 16ft by 12ft over a hallway and reception room. Yes, it cost more than felt but it looks as new today as when it was first laid and by now felt would be nearing the end of its life. Highly recommend it.

Isolators on radiator pipes... what should I do?

Do you not have enough height to fit a small (2-3") length of pipe between the isolator and the TRV?

    New Boiler Quote

In a very similar situation, my primary reason for changing boilers was to eliminate the need to have large to-outside vents in the kitchen causing the room to cool to about 13 degrees soon after the heating goes off when it's cold outside. My new boiler's also going to be in the garage freeing...

    Ruined Tile Job ?

I only ask this question so that it might be helpful to an expert. From the first picture is does look like the runs - or are they scratches? - consist of several parallel lines (4 lines about 20.. apart?), so not random drips. Is that the case each time?

    Hotpoint 9524 Drum Bearing replacement

Thanks Leccy. I had in mind a cut-off point of about £75 so it looks like I might be taking a trip down to <select white goods retailer of choice>. Sad, it's served us well!

    Hotpoint 9524 Drum Bearing replacement

We have a Hotpoint Electronic 800 De Luxe 9524 washing machine. Although it is now just over 20 years old and averages 3 or 4 loads per week, it has never let us down and has only needed 2 sets of motor brushes (which I did myself). The drum bearings have now worn out and it makes quite a loud...

    corrugated plastic roofing sheets

I use a jigsaw with a hacksaw (24tpi) blade. It helps if the plastic is warm (normal indoor room temperature) as it gets brittle and can shatter if too cold.

Electronic device on cold water pipe, what is its function ?

Looks to me like an electric descaler. The coil of wire around the pipe generates a field which helps stop limescale forming. I have another make and it definitely extends the time between having to descale the shower heads by a factor of three or four (one month to four months). However, I...

Need magnet closers for internal French doors- where/how?

You could fit door closers and then do away with the bolts and latches or magnets but you would need to wedge the doors open at other times, or you could remove the jamb and replace the hinges with swing-both-ways, saloon door-type ones.

    Concealable sink

Have a look at suppliers for caravans and boats. They often have small sinks with low taps so that they can be fitted with a lid. I'd guess they're not designed for mains pressure so you'd have to reduce the flow.

no pressure on kitchen mixer tap

I had one of those pull-out-hose-type mixer taps. Mains cold, gravity hot (with about a 12-15 ft head of water). The flow from the hot was poor - about 5 minutes to fill a washing-up bowl. I think the tap was probably designed for higher pressure hot (eg from a combi) even though it said it was...

    Draught From Behind Kitchen Units

I think I would try a strip of wood like a skirting board - it doesn't have to be neat. Maybe put some draught excluder strip along the bottom (floor) edge and then glue to wood (gripfill?) to the plasterboard. At least the gap will be smaller and you might be able to finish it off with some...

    Hot Tap isolating valve fitting

Yes, turn off the cold supply to the hot water cylinder. Open the hot tap and drain until it stops (only the water in the pipe, so not much). Fit the isolator.

What's the name of the tool I'm after .... ?

They're called "box spanner"s. But you probably need a "basin wrench" (search terms).
